One Serious boom stand

I was looking for a boom stand to replace a "baby boom" on a regular stand for our church's pianist, who is also a very good singer. The baby boom setup would have to be fully extended reach to the middle of the keyboard of the baby grand, so it was very unstable. I was concerned that the stand would tip and allow the mic to "clunck" into the piano. This boom stand handily reaches the center of the keyboard from either side of the piano, and even from the shorter treble-side of the BACK of the piano. The only reason I didn't give it all five stars is because the boom itself comes in two pieces and is screwed together using a coupling. The coupling is about 1/8" bigger than the rest of the boom, so that portion cannot slide through the angle-adjusting bracket that holds the boom to the stand. This means you will always have a minimum reach of nearly 3 feet when the boom is level. But it's not really an issue because when you want less reach you can switch back to a baby boom on a regular stand. This is probably the most stable boom stand you can find for long reaches, because the counterweight weighs 6 pounds and the rest of it weighs 40 pounds! So it's ideal for a sound stage or a studio, but probably not something you want to haul to a gig.
