The PRS S2 Standard 24 Satin solidbody electric guitar is oozing with classic PRS playability, tone, and workmanship. This gorgeous instrument has a comfortable asymmetric bevel-cut mahogany double-cutaway body and an expressive vibrato bridge/tailpiece. Upgraded 85/15 "S" humbuckers serve up sweet, vintage tone by the truckload. This guitar sports a fast mahogany Pattern Regular neck with an extended 24-fret rosewood fingerboard that makes high-register soloing easy. Anyone searching for a great-sounding, great-playing solidbody electric guitar should check out the PRS S2 Standard 24 Satin.

The PRS S2 series of guitars: extreme value

In their never-ending quest for guitar perfection, PRS has created the S2 series of guitars. These guitars were designed to give you all the tone and playability that the PRS Maryland factory is known for in an affordable, beautiful instrument. Key features of this series include PRS S2 locking tuners, custom-wound pickups, the PRS Pattern Regular neck shape, PRS bridge, and a hybrid gloss finish. The PRS S2 Standard 24 Satin delivers amazing playability and big guitar tone at a killer price.

PRS 85/15 "S" pickups offer remarkable clarity and extended tonal range

Playing your favorite licks through the PRS S2 Standard 24 Satin's 85/15 "S" pickups is a wonderful experience. That's because 85/15 "S" pickups are modeled after the 85/15 pickups Paul Reed Smith designed for PRS’s 30th Anniversary. From shimmering cleans to blistering high-gain tones, the clarity and extended tonal range provided by these pickups make the S2 Standard 24 Satin the ideal workhorse guitar. A push-pull tone pot further fortifies your sonic arsenal with a range of spanky single-coil tones. At Sweetwater, we love the sweetened, vintage-inspired sound of 85/15 "S" humbuckers.

Pattern Regular profile neck feels great and plays smoothly

The PRS S2 Standard 24 Satin gives you a Pattern Regular-profile mahogany neck fitted with a rosewood fretboard. A hallmark of PRS quality, neck shapes are, of course, critical to your playing experience. Perfected after years of prototyping, the Pattern Regular neck carve is based on Paul Reed Smith's original, pre-factory neck design — the same one used on instruments he built in the late '80s at PRS's Virginia Avenue location. You'll love the playability and feel of the PRS S2 Standard 24 Satin electric guitar!

PRS S2 Standard 24 Satin Solidbody Electric Guitar Features:

  • Comfortable contoured mahogany body with asymmetric beveled top
  • Easy-playing mahogany Pattern Regular neck with rosewood fingerboard, 24 frets, and dot inlays
  • PRS 85/15 "S" humbucking pickups offer remarkable clarity and extended tonal range

My Favorite Guitar

This guitar (after MUCH research) is exactly what I was after. Coil split gives it the right attitude for funk, gospel, blues, and the humuckers for when it's time to go in (heavier stuff, solos). The satin finish gives the neck a perfect feel in my hands. Only thing to consider is with such a thin protective layer, the guitar does start to that on that road worn look really quickly. Like, one show quickly lol. Personally I dig that, but others may not. Then again one could always just be mindful of belt buckles, jacket zippers, etc. to slow that down. Tuning stability is great, it's light.. not sure what else to say about it besides it's just an excellent guitar. I love mine

Exactly what I expected

I’ve mostly been a budget guitar fan over the years. I’m not a Pro, just a bedroom rock star. I’ve only had a couple noteworthy guitars. A Music Man JP6 and a Reverend Reeves Gabrelle and while I was waiting for my PRS SE Custom 24 in Tobacco Sunburst to come into stock at Sweetwater I found a demo model of the S2 Standard 24 Satin here for only a C-Note more than I was spending on the SE. I really loved the idea of the SE’s gloss finish and bird shaped inlays but the Made In Maryland allure and Smokey finish of this S2 attracted me. I cancelled my order for the SE and got this S2 instead and I have zero regret. Everything on this guitar works for me. These pickups sound organic and I hear a quality of sound I’ve never heard in other guitars I’ve owned. They all have their virtues but this one has that certain something that just feels like home. I was concerned about the neck shape because I’m notoriously finicky but while I noticed it was different than the SE’s I’d played, it was a very small learning curve and after owning it for a little more than a month it feels natural now. My Demo model had some pretty serious strumming stroke marks above the strings on the body as well as below on the pick guard. I knew about these when ordering and that’s one of the reasons it was discounted. I can’t even understand how someone could strum this hard on an electric guitar to cause such topical trauma but I don’t even notice it any more unless I’m looking for it. If you like your guitar beautiful with a visual hint of antique furniture thrown in, this Satin S2 Standard could be your next guitar.
