Studio One Pro

First time ever with a DAW - and after much research, I decided to go with Studio One - and I'm glad I did! Yes, there is a learning curve - but if you have the least bit of software savvy, the ease in using this platform is clear.

Studio One is Great

I have had this software for 2 months and all i can say is that its great for creating music.
Music background: Hip Hop producer

Awesome DAW software!

Hard to say what hasn't already been said about Studio One 3, I'm just thrilled that I stepped up to the professional version. Very intuitive to use (and this coming from a Garageband background). Very easy to put together scratch tracks on the fly and not have to stop and Google for answers to get to the next step. Allows me to keep the workflow going while I'm inspired with great results and I haven't even scratched the surface of the true capabilities of this powerful program!

Easy operation and great sound

I have been home-recording for over a decade and have used many brands of DAW and hardware rigs to hookup my bass to my iMac. Studio One 3 Pro is by far the easiest DAW to operate and produces sound through my new Presonus 24.4.2ai that is spectacular compared to my old rig (logically, I won't cakewalk down the road or mention brands or get into phonics for any reason). Among the wonderful things about Studio One 3 - drag and drop between instrument (MIDI) tracks and audio tracks is a useful and painless operation - a new skill/technique for me; quantize and pitch correction made easy and versatile; reverting to original is always easy; effects that sound great and drop into place without hassle. In my before-Presonus work flow, the creation of new projects from scratch used to rely heavily on templates. Initially I tried to migrate those templates into Studio One but I've found it to be so easy to add tracks that the templates are getting used less and less. I found that moving audio stems from my old DAW (previously recorded work) into Studio One 3 works very well. I thought I would be missing some controls/automation in the migration. If I've lost anything, I don't mind. What I gain in better sound and easier editing is delightful. Due to bad habits and preconceptions that were flat out wrong, I had occasion to contact Presonus Tech Support during my initial setup - very pleasant results! Experts are standing by to help me when I ask. I didn't Studio One 3 a 5 star rating because I don't think the training videos are that swell. They are certainly good orientation and make initial setup pretty straight forward. But, as reference material, the videos are challenging to search. I'm about 2/3 through reading the help / owner's manual that ships with the software. It is well written and is indeed helpful. But is presented from the software developer's point of view rather than that of a working musician trying to capture an inspiration. That is a very small quibble - Studio One 3 is the only DAW I recommend.
