I'm A Techtard, But I Was Recording Within 5 Min!

If you are new to the whole DAW based recording world it can be pretty overwhelming just trying to figure out what to do to get started. Even the language that is used can be confusing and even daunting. For years I stuck with stand alone recorders just to avoid DAWs and computers in general. But the benefits, by far, outweigh the burden of a steep learning curve, so I had to take the plunge. This was about a year ago and ProTools was, and still is I guess, considered the industry standard. So I figured I would go that route. For me, personally, that was a huge mistake. As I mentioned I am a techtard and Pro Tools is a cumbersome, unwieldy and obtuse piece of software that I could make neither heads or tails of. I sent it back, and good riddance. Studio One came bundled free with a $99 Audiobox interface, and it still does today. So I thought I'd give that a shot. Lo and behold, the clouds parted and the heavens cast a bright light down upon the darkened path. Well, not really, but I swear I went from knowing pretty much nothing to actually recording a guitar part within 5 minutes of having set it up. Seriously! It's that intuitive. I have no desire to use anything else. Of course, there are some more in-depth features to it than what I'll ever use and I would estimate that probably 90 to 95% of its functionality is wasted on me because I don't do anything with midi instruments or samples or any of the stuff that is commonly used today to make music. It's just real instruments and vocals for me. I am so stubborn about keeping it real that I refuse to even use the Melodyne that it comes with to autotune a sour vocal part. I figure if I can't hit it, it don't get hit. But that's just me. Bottom line, This is a great DAW, possibly the best one ever throughout the entire universe from the beginning of time until the, if not distant, then at least foreseeable future and......alright, alright, I'm just messing around with a little hyperbole. But I do love this DAW

Studio One has come a long way!

I have used every major DAW, some more than others.I had settled on Reaper, and still use Sonar. I had a copy of Studio One Artist, decided to give it a run-thru....and haven't looked back. Studio One just suits my tradional live instrument work-flow, while allowing me access to synth and sample-based elements. PreSonus has done a great job of giving users a DAW alternative that is both fun and user-ready, right out of the box(included effects and instruments are top-notch). The Artist version gives the user everything needed in a DAW to make studio-grade, professional recordings. Full featured, easy to use. Adding additional VST effects/instruments requires an upgrade, so if you have a library of those, there is that. By the time I realized Studio One had become my fave DAW, up-grading to main DAW status was an easy decision! I really love the way PreSonus has stayed ahead of the curve, always moving forward. Their gear is always worth buying!

PreSonus One 3 Artist

Very good product with capabilities I would have expected only from higher priced products. Buy it if you want a great intermediate entry into recording for a beginner's price.
