One Powerfully Versatile Amp

Here's a versatile amp that delivers full-on tube tone! The Blackstar Series One 1046L6 can go from ultra-clean to crushingly crunchy, giving you a ton of hands-on control to dial in the perfect sound. In fact, when you toggle between the bright and warm modes on the clean channel, the Series One 1046L6 actually reconfigures its preamp voicing and power amp damping, giving you bright and ringing Class A performance or that warm and crunchy Class AB sound.

You've also got crunch and super crunch modes to choose from on the Series One 1046L6. In crunch, you can go from just on the edge of clean breakup to totally thick, modern rhythm tones. In super crunch mode, the stops are out for maximum all-out crunch. You'll also appreciate the attention Blackstar paid to keeping your top end intact when you do launch into your overdrive sounds.

On top of the flexible clean and crunch channels, the Blackstar Series One 1046L6 sports two more overdrive channels to cover maximum tonal territory. These channels feature high and low output damping, giving you the power to dial in two distinct flavors of overdrive that you can easily switch between.

Blackstar Series One 1046L6 at a Glance:
  • ISF tone control
  • Powerful MIDI capabilities
  • Dynamic Power Reduction
ISF tone control

Looking for even more tonal flexibility? Blackstar also gave the Series One 1046L6 their exclusive ISF control (ISF stands for Infinite Shape Feature). Using it in conjunction with your bass, middle, and treble controls, you can nail the exact tonal signature you want. When turned fully counterclockwise, you'll have more of an American characteristic to your voice, with a tight bottom end and aggressive middle. Turned all the way to the right, you'll enjoy more of a British vibe, with a woodier sound that's less aggressive. However you dial in the Series One 1046L6 between the two, you'll enjoy a musical response that just asks to be taken onstage or into the studio.

Powerful MIDI capabilities

If you're the plug-and-play sort of guitarist, then you'll be right at home in front of the Series One 1046L6. But if you've got a mind for the high-tech, you'll dig this mighty little combo, too. The Blackstar Series One 1046L6 supports MIDI channel switching, allowing you to simultaneously select an amp channel and change the patch on a MIDI effects processor you have connected to the effects loop. Very nice. It supports 128 program changes, so you can access a wide range of tonal combinations.

Dynamic Power Reduction

Last but not least, the Blackstar Series One 1046L6 has a convenient DPR (Dynamic Power Reduction) control. Grab the DPR and adjust the output power of the amp from 100 watts (100%) all the way down to 10 watts (10%) of the rated power. The control even adjusts the power amp compression, giving you a more playable feel when you're enjoying the comfortable listening levels of the reduced power settings.

Blackstar Series One 1046L6 Features at a Glance:
  • 100-watt head with built-in DPR power reduction
  • 4 channels and 6 modes (footswitchable)
  • 3 x ECC83, 1 x ECC82, and 4 x 6L6 tubes
  • Clean channel with warm (Plexi) and bright (Class A) type modes
  • Overdrive channel with crunch and super crunch modes
  • 2 overdrive channels with high and low output damping
  • 2 ISF (Infinite Shape Feature) equipped tone control sections
  • Presence control
  • Master volume
  • Series effects loop
  • MIDI switching
  • Speaker-emulated output
The Blackstar Series One 1046L6 is the sonically versatile, supremely playable amp you've been wanting!

A Beast Of A Amplifier!

I have seen Blackstar around for a while but had never done any research on them until this year. I was in the market for a high end amp and looked & tried many before settling on the Series One 100 6L6. Before I purchased this amp, I bought a Series One 45 combo and was really impressed with it. I also bought a Fulltone OCD pedal to add a volume boost & compression to my dirty channel of the amp. The 45 sounded so good that I decided to pull the trigger on the Series One 100 and I'm glad I did! The head is a complete beast and spits fire! My clean channel sounds great but the crunch & overdrive channels rule this beast. There's more gain on this amp than anyone could ever want. I'm a arrpegio lead string sweeping kind of player who needs tons of gain and this amp delivers. There are enough EQ & shape controls to make the amp the most versatile amp I've ever owned. This is definitely not a one horse pony show at all. It goes from Fenderish to Vox clean to Marshall and Mesa high gain. The amp does not sound like a buzz saw like some do. The notes are tight or squishy depending on what you want, and keep their clarity at the highest of gain settings. You can adjust the ISF control to sound like American amps or at the other extreme, like British amps. It also has a built in attenuator that works better than any other I have ever owned. You can run the amp from 10 watts to 100 watts. The tone and sustain on this amp are to die for. Also the effects loop sounds fantastic. If you are looking for a versatile amp that can do anything, buy it you won't be sorry!

Great amp!

Well, I did a lot of research. Play rock/metal, was choosing b/w Marshall 4 channel and Mesa boogie 4 channel. Ended up with blackstars 6L6 series one. Not a true 4 channel since 2 channels share eq, but that was not a problem. Blackstar sounds actually a bit like a Marshall and Mesa boogie amps or somewhere between in what I was considering above, so it ended up being a no brainer, and love the amp. Bought three pedals from Blackstar to go with it HT: reverb since no reverb, boost for channels 3 and 4, and overdrive for channel 1 and 2. Just added bonuses (wasn't necessary) but love the flexibility and sound. Thanks to Ryan Murrary at sweetwater for taking care of me!
