Beefy 8U TSA-approved Rolling Rack

If you've got to get heavy remote recording and sound reinforcement equipment through through airport security and onto a plane, you need a rugged rolling rack that'll take all the abuse the road can dish out - and come back asking for more. If this sounds about right, look no further than the SKB 8U Roto Rolling Rack. Quality product, quality company

I have had this case for 2 1/2 years. It has taken some considerable abuse. I will not hesitate to buy SKB products in the future. As a note, the handle broke about 1 month ago. A simple email to SKB, and they sent me a new one for free. That is real customer service.

quality construction

Well made case. Tried a cheaper molded case first, but the tow handle only lasted a month, and I was not hard on it at all. Was able to fill all 8 spaces without having to "force" anything in. Very sturdy, but a little bigger and bulkier than a normal 8U rack. I don't mind. Took off a half star because the tow handle feels a bit flimsy compared to the rest of the rack, but SKB warrants it for life.

Handle feels weak.

The handle and wheels on this unit do not feel like they would stand up to the rigors of the road. Once loaded with a QSC and an old Crown, (with 2 empty rack spaces), the box was pretty heavy. I had to be careful going down a few steps not to put too much torque on the telescoping dolly handle, because it's wobbly and flexes under pressure. I could be wrong, but it felt like it would break if I really tested it's mettle. Fortunately for me, the unit is part of a school sound system and won't be moved around much. The wheels are very small, and don't appreciate going over rough surfaces. If you are on smooth pavement, they work ok. Also, pulling the unit with the handle puts less pressure on it than going up/down stairs. The case itself works well, and I appreciate the smooth and easy action of the latches.

Decent, could be better

This rack is deep enough that you can mount radio TX and shallow rack equipment etc on the back side which further expands it's capacity. There's room to store snakes and cables in it as well which is nice.Covers and latches are good. The biggest problem with this is the plastic telescopic pull handle is VERY flimsy. When loaded up, if you try to lever the rack up onto it's wheels with the handle extended it feels like it's going to break. It bends excessively and is a weak point IMO.The wheels are cheaper versions of rollerblade wheels, why not use ROLLERBLADE wheels SKB. I'm sure the wheels won't last if you're rough with them so be wary.I would buy this again simply for the portability. I will replace the wheels with good ones if needed, the handle, well that will be tricky so I hope it lasts but I'll be really careful with it and help it up onto the wheels rather than torque on the handle.
