Orange Rockerverb 50 MKIII 2x12" 50-watt Tube Combo Amp Reviews
In the early 2000s, a new era of high-gain Orange Amplification tone was ushered in with the Rockerverb series of electric guitar amplifiers. The all-tube Rockerverb 50 MK3 is the culmination of over a decade of fine-tuned adjustments to that game-changing amplifier. The MK3 offers a newly-voiced clean channel for a more versatile chimey tone, and a dirty channel that will take you anywhere from classic British crunch to the very heaviest in modern metal. Add in power-scaling and footswitchable attenuation and there's nowhere the Rockerverb 50 MK3 can't take you.

It's an Orange
This amp is a beast. Both channels sound great! The attenuator is of Epic value to those who want great tone at bedroom levels and the Reverb sounds beautiful. Personally, I like the way Orange decided to have the EQ knobs "click" when adjusting instead of a smooth sweep. I guess this can be good or bad depending on who you are but I feel it helps you recall specific tones. The Rockerverb MKIII takes pedals very well and the effects loop works great. Very happy with this Purchase!
Rockerverg 50 MKIII
This Orange is a beast. The attenuator is a great feature and works very well. The range of tone is incredible, from Twin Reverb clean to heavy saturated grind. The spring reverb sounds great. I have played guitar for years and always had Fender amps. Fender always had best Reverb but this Orange is just as good. I loved my Twin but not so much my Blues Deville. The Deville is either loud or cant hear it. The only thing I don't like about this Orange is the open vent on top of the amp, something can drop in there to easily. It's pretty heavy too, i guess that's good in how it is built so solid, but not so great for my back...great handles though. I probably should have gotten the head & cabinet vs the combo but I am VERY happy with the sound of this thing. If you want to have a full range of tone you will not be disappointed with this amp.
Not the experience I was hoping for.
About two years ago, I played through a Rockerverb MKII in a local music store and was just absolutely blown away by the tone and response of the amp. I've yearned for a RV ever since. This past December, I decided to take the plunge and ordered the RV MKIII 50 Combo. The amp arrived promptly. Kudos to my rep, Cody Kraus...he's always treated me well. I bought this amp despite the negative reviews and comments, online. I was immediately struck by how much this amp didn't live up to my previous experience. The sound, at least to my ears, was thin and fizzy, with either too much gain or not enough. I tried to give the tubes and speakers plenty of time to cook in, but this didn't seem to help. I went about trying to get it dialed in with my pedalboard, as we had some shows coming up, soon. I began to notice an inconsistency in the sound. The first gig was less than acceptable as the amp kept cutting out and had a very grating high end that I couldn't seem to dial out. After I brought it home and set it up to continue working with it, the amp went down, altogether. Something in the preamp section gave up the ghost. While playing, it just faded away and that was it. Tried new tubes, but to no avail. Keep in mind that, at this point, I'd only owned the amp for just over a month. Sweetwater's service dept. were helpful, but didn't seem to be in much of a hurry to help. I'm sure they're busy, but c'mon, guys! Anyway, after some basic trouble shooting, it was determined that the amp would be replaced. Sweetwater had a new amp sent out and paid for the return of the... paper-weight I was, currently, in possession of...no complaints there. However, the new amp is just "okay." Everything seems to be functioning fine, so far, but, to be honest, it just doesn't sound that good. I really wish I'd ordered the head instead of the combo. Plus, after my previous experience, I just don't don't trust the amp. Maybe, it's just crappy tubes or, maybe, it's just not as good as previous models. Regardless, I'm very disappointed with this purchase. Live and learn, I guess.
Broke Down Again
I have been through 5 (yes that is FIVE) Rockerverb 50 combo's. MKI through MKIII's. 2 used and 3 new. All sounded great when working properly. The first was a MK I in white (used). It was awesome but the effects loop didn't take pedals well at all so so I went to a MK III (used) It sounded great and took pedals well but I was nervous about working with an amp I didn't know the history on so I took it back and bought a new MK III. The new amp (out of the box) was amazing until I added my pedal board to the effects loop. The effects loop issues were intermittent (I had to finish the run of shows with my Marshall) so when I got home I returned it for another new one. Again this one was great in rehearsal but once on the road the effects loop gave up the ghost again. I went to the Orange distribution warehouse in Atlanta and the ordered me a new one "off the line" in England. Same amp, same issue. By this time I had so much money tied up in the amp I had to get it right and the warranty would take too long to get fixed so I sent it to a local repair shop who fixed it. Now recording in the studio (and it sounding amazing) I switched to the clean channel and now it has a case of the speaker farts! Sounds fantastic dirty but the clean channel pops intermittently. Once I get it fixed this time I'll be getting rid of ot. WAY too much money for that many problems.
I'm keeping my Marshall's!
