A great-sounding long-spring reverb, a switchable Dual Rectifier function on each channel, variable voltage, and 50- or 100-watt operation are also featured on the Roadster.

Plenty of tonal options in an easy-to-use format

Mesa amps are renowned by touring pros and enthusiasts alike for their range of features, and the Roadster is no exception. This all-tube thoroughbred shares a class with only one other amplifier - its brother, the mighty Road King. In fact, the Roadster is a Road King without Progressive-Linkage-selectable power tube section and other rear panel features. While those features are outstanding and useful, some players prefer a more streamlined approach. The Roadster now offers the plug-and-play-minded guitarist a way to enjoy a myriad of footswitchable preamp choices without having to deal with a complex power section.

Dial in your favorite clean tones, or choose big, bombastic Boogie sounds

While navigating the lower-gain territory of channels one and two, you'll enjoy an array of classic and contemporary clean tones. Clean and fat modes add even more options. Once you've dialed in your ultimate clean sound, you can duplicate it in the other channel and modify it for single note applications, a more pushed version, or decide to switch to another mode for a radically different sound. Meanwhile, dedicated American blues and English rock sounds reside in the easily clippable mid-gain realms of tweed and Brit. These dynamic and incredibly expressive modes would make an amazing amplifier all by themselves, giving you a palette of tones that run from clean to crunchy.
Channels three and four contain all the mind-altering iconic sounds of the legendary Dual Rectifier solo head and hand you the keys to the world of high gain - both retro and future. The raw, vintage, and modern modes cover the entire range of gain from a sweet clip to a liquid voice up to a crushing wall of tight grind and are duplicated in both channels. This functionality allows you to either find a favorite sound and dedicate the channels to slight differences or configure them for wildly different styles. The channels' duplicated modes are a powerful feature, making the Roadster not just an amp for your current style or band but a true lifelong companion to your music. This amp offers limitless configurations, keeping pace with your growth as your playing evolves.

Choose between 50-watt or 100-watt power

The Roadster also features Mesa's Multi-Watt channel-assignable power feature, allowing you to choose either 50- or 100-watt power for each channel. This simple-to-use feature expands the potential of each channel mode exponentially by enabling you to lower the power-clip threshold or tighten things up as needed. The two power choices also offer different personalities: 50 watts gives you brighter, elastic bounce; 100 watts means tight-tracking low-end girth and mid-punch authority.

Dial in the amp response that suits you

This amp doesn't just stop with a huge array of tweakable tones, however. Mesa applied the same attention to detail to the Roadster's response and dynamics. A switchable rectifier feature allows you to tune the power supply for the feeling that best suits your style - tube for a vintage-inspired sag, or silicone diodes for tight tracking punch and authority.
bold/spongy power located on the main AC power switch provides a reduced line voltage setting for additional power sag and enhanced top end harmonic content. Its front panel location allows for on-the-fly selection of incoming line voltage with the full 117 volts for headroom and authority, or a reduced voltage setting (like a built-in variac) for a vintage-inspired brown vibe.

Dedicated reverbs add air to any or all of these great tones

Reverb is paramount in an amplifier this versatile - and the Roadster gets the best! Mesa used the all-tube circuit from their acclaimed Lone Star amp, giving the Roadster a lush, ambient reverb that blooms with added dimension. And because the Roadster's modes offer such a wide range of gain levels and sound styles, each channel is fitted with a dedicated reverb mix control located on the rear panel so reverb can be optimized for each sound.

Best Amp I've Ever Owned

This amp is amazing. You can literally make it sound like any other amp - Fender, Vox, Marshall, classic or modern Mesa/Boogie, it's all there. And unlike amp simulators, it's all from a real tube amp. The range of tones is unbelievable. Once you understand the settings, which are not too complicated, you can get any sound you're looking for. I would strongly recommend anyone considering an expensive amp modeler to try one of these instead. The only drawback is that it's heavy and harder to transport. But the tone and versatility are unmatched.

The Last Amp You'll Need

I've played too many amps over the course of my career. Some, I'd like to forget, and there are others that served their purpose, but still fell short in some manner. The primary reason for my purchase was to plug into an amp that was ready-to-roll. It seems that I spend more time diagnosing and fixing amp issues, rather than actually playing through them. I researched this amp for a while before I pulled the trigger on it. It's expensive, but the saying is true: "you get what you pay for." This is a 4 channel amp, with 3 different voicings on each channel. Right out of the box, there are an overwhelming number of tone choices at your disposal. Each channel can independently be switched from either 50-to-100 watts (depending on how much headroom you want for your style). In terms of build, this amp is solid (and heavy). It weighs in at approximately 100lbs, but not only does it have a LEATHER (not rubber) handle on the top of the chassis, it also has two hand-holds on the side of the cab, as well. It comes with removable casters that slide into grooves on the bottom of the cabinet. It's the attention to detail that really struck me about this Mesa. This is my first and undoubtedly will be the last amp I'll need. I'm, unfortunately, accustomed to buying pricey midrange amps only to have rubber handles that break during cartage to rehearsals. Again, this is rock-solid.I've only begun to dig into the tones on the Roadster, but in running through some of the settings fairly quickly, I have to admit I was almost dumbfounded when I discovered this amp really delivers an incredible tweed tone. In my research on this amp, I knew it was good for blues, rock, metal, etc, but plug a Tele into this with a little compression and you can get some serious country tones out of this, too. Tone is subjective, but you'll find the one you want (and love) in this Mesa.

Wow!

I've had this amp for 6 years now. I loved it the first day I got it and I've never looked back. I have many styles of guitars and I can get what I want out of any of them. I told my wife if I ever sell this amp to have my head examined because I'm clearly not thinking straight. I think this will be a keeper until the very end. I highly suggest this one.

Dual Rec Roadster

All Around goodness. Mesa Boogie coupled with Sweetwater is like the ultimate combo. Recieved this amp and I just have to say, WOW. This tone-machine does it all. Leppard, Bon Jovi, Ac/Dc and all things 80's, are easily tuned in with little effort. This baby has power. I was skeptical at first given all I could find were reviews/samples on Youtube that had horrible sounds via laptop/camera mics and repetitive grinding noises. When real melody is feed into this thing it sings. A little pricey, but worth every penny. Sweetwater's customer service was also surprising. I had the impression that my sales associate, Bob Furlong, would practically bend over backwards for me. This is the most professional company in retail. Sweetwater 4 LIFE!
