Combine six sonic elements for complex, expressive sounds

Rapture Pro is based around "Elements", six modules which can each host their own synth oscillators or samples. You can mix all of the Elements together for amazingly complex sounds, or play them individually in multitimbral mode. Synth gurus at Sweetwater dig this versatility because it makes Rapture Pro ideal for both traditional lead and bass synth sounds as well as more creative, dimensional sound design.

Virtually unlimited modulation for extremely animated sounds

Each of the six Elements in Rapture Pro can be individually modulated with up to seven envelope generators, seven LFOs, and seven step generators. With that kind of flexibility and sound design potential, Rapture Pro really is like having six powerful synthesizers in a single intuitive environment.

Easy to use with any MIDI controller

Everyone at Sweetwater knows that synths only really come alive once you start turning knobs and tweaking parameters in real time, and Cakewalk's Rapture Pro makes it easy to map out your favorite controller. Just two mouse clicks is all it takes to MIDI-assign any parameter to your controller.

A Mac Pro Cubase Pro user's review

There are only limited VSTs that Cakewalk builds where they include the Macintosh-users congregation. Happily, this is one of them. I use Cubase Pro, with all the included synths and have upgraded them to the full status, e.g. From Halion SE2 up to Halion 5. I have their full Grand 3. I also have the full classic arsenal from Arturia of 11synths, as well as their Spark percussion board w/ 5 expansion sets. I am picky with all my VSTs because I try to avoid redundency. That said, I love the Rapture Pro. Period! It has many presets to begin your sound developement from. There are samples, plenty of VCOs, VCAs, VCFs and EQ and FX options. It is easy to start with and is friendly to modify with. Does it replace my other soft-synths? Nope! But it sure goes a long way to compliment them. A killer price for all that you get. . . Mark 4RE

Not Quite Soup

Obviously this is the way forward for the long-in-the-tooth but relatively stable Rapture/Dimension Pro software. However, in its present incarnation (2.0.2) on Mac OS X Mavericks, I'm afraid it's a bit of a buggy, CPU-hogging mess. Some patches are utterly silent (bad sample references?) and voice-stealing appears absent (for example, quickly retriggering notes in large patches leads to CPU overload). The Cakewalk team is working to make this better, but I personally wouldn't recommend this software just yet. Give it time. That said, aside from an interface overhaul and 64-bit compatibility, I'm not overwhelmed with new, cool things to do. Perhaps that's a strength, too, as it's a fairly straightforward "layers of stuff" sound engine with decent if not innovative sound-mangling options. If you want pure synth mayhem from Cakewalk, z3ta+ 2 is the better bet.
