Peavey Rage 258. Sweetwater Rocks!

I own a 1969 Fender Super-Reverb, with vibrato that still sounds great! Fender is known for their great clean tone, well this Rage 258 sounds as clean, if not cleaner! My 69 could use some new tubes, but the Peavey makes my electric guitar almost sound acoustic. You can also get a good metal sound out of it as well, if you dial it in. I love this little amp. My only complaint is no reverb. It's a great starter amp, or as an upgrade from a 10 watt. This little 25 watt pushes a lot of sound, enough for a small venue, or open mic night!

rage 258

i like it better than my fender champion20, much clearer sounding. sold as b-stock/demo, only thing wrong was the box, amp was perfect.

This little Peavey rocks!

I got tired of lugging around my VOX VTX120 212 - weighs 60lbs! Did lots of research on small practice amps and this one came out on top. Great clean channel and the TransTube technology will blow you away! Well worth the $ list price and doing business with Sweetwater cannot be beat.

Best amp under $250 easy!

After trying fenders, Marshall's, black stars, boss and orange amps I finally gave this peavy a try and could not be happier. For living room jamming this this is perfect. Highest quality audio tone of any amp in this size range. A must try if you are tired of your practice Amos sounding like garbage!

Authentic tube tone in pint sized package

We've been using this amp over a decade now for small rehearsals in small spaces. I have used it on low-volume jazz gigs too with GREAT results. The fact is, this is the genuine "trans-tube" circuitry, NOT a "modeling amp."

It sounds and FEELS like a tube amp, but has none of the associated problems of tube amps: weight, tube degradation, sensitivity to power fluctuations, etc. It ALWAYS sound good and behaves like a perfectly adjusted tube amp, every time.

If it did only that, this would be worth having. But here's the EXCITING part!

On a lark, we ran this little head through a Marshal four-by-12 cab. OMG what a beautiful tone! PLENTY loud enough for ROCK gigs with a real drummer!

Even that is not all...
Because this has given me such good service for such a long time, I bought another one. Now I run BOTH of them for a deluxe sounding yet small STEREO rig. It's AMAZING!

Complaints? Yes. Personally, I do not like the silly Peavey logo which comes from Hartley's love of "spy-vs-spy comics." But I can live with that given the great tone and response.

Also, I wish these included an effects send and return because some effects sound better after the preamp.

Other than those two small gripes, I can think of nothing that I don't love about these little gems.

By running TWO of these through bigger speakers, you get a realistic 20 watts per side in STEREO, and that just ROCKS! Yet the package doesn't terrify nightclub managers or weak singers.
