Perfect Solution

I wanted a pickup that would be easy to use and not force me to modify my mandolin in any way. The LR Baggs Radius-M works perfectly. Nice sound and easy to take on and off. It's fun moving the pick up around the top of my mando and finding the sweet spot. So far I'm just using the putty they supply and don't feel any need to go to the more permanent sticky tape. The sound through my amp is great and brings out the natural voice of my instrument.

Now that’s a acoustic pickup can’t believe how good the sound is, had to play with the pickup a little to find the sweet spot Had to turn the gain down this pickup is good you could hear the strap rub on the mandolin when you move around the stage

Love it!

I have been very happy with my Baggs radius pickup which I have had about six months now, and sometimes use with the Baggs Venue preamp to give it more volume and some EQ for my Washburn 118 mandolin. It reproduces the acoustic sound of my mandolin accurately and I am pleased with the results when I record. That's the test! Piezzo pickups sounded cold and metallic, too much like an electric guitar. This gives the woody acoustic sound of the mandolin, which is what I want. This pickup is also designed for those who don't want to make any structural modification on their instrument, if they have an expensive or vintage model.

Great alternative

This pickup is a great alternative to a mic when a mic is not convenient. I am using it in conjunction with a Fishman preamp and then direct into a mixer. I will admit that I can't get a pure acoustic tone but it is very close and more than adequate for live sound in the Southern Gospel/country style music that I do. It would fall short in a bluegrass band I feel, but overall I'm very satisfied. The one shortfall is the carpenter jack will pop off when unplugging the 1/4 inch output cable if care isn't taken, but that is an issue with all carpenter style jacks.

LR Baggs Radius- M Mandolin Pickup

Did not distort the acoustic sound of my mandolin ! It actually sounded better than I had anticipated. I will recommend this pickup to anyone who is in need of one , novice or professional.
