That "Rotosound" Thing - For Short-Scale Basses!

Rotosound is one of the first string companies to produce round-wound stainless steel bass strings. Introduced in 1962 Swing Bass strings changed the sound of the electric bass instantly. The favorite string of many players including Billy Sheehan, John Paul Jones and Geddy Lee, Rotosound strings are available in all popular gauges and scale lengths. The steel used to produce these strings is unique, combined with a highly secretive manufacturing process. The Guys from Fender

I don't write reviews. learn the hard way like I did, but these strings are good and great when newish . I've used these strings since 1977 was a road musician 21 years and then 20 in Christian music. There is nothing like a fresh set of these on any bass.I bought strings before I bought clothes and sometimes food .When they'd get dirty and dull after 6 weeks of 6 nights 5 sets a night plus practice .I learned to snap a string (yea ya can if ya hi-pop like Geezer lol and do it just right ) to make myself buy a fresh set .I been ripped off by Fender too many times anyway ! even if the fan boys are right and Fender strings are ok .Who cares, Get the real deal Rotos till ya die thumpin ...

I have been playing bass for 44 years and I just tried these strings for the first time. I couldn't believe that strings could make so much difference; not only in my tone but in the way I played, too! I have a 1968 Gibson EB-3 bass and it has never sounded better. They went in tune almost immediately and stayed in tune the first time I played right after I put them on. I don't think I will ever use another type of string again. The service from Sweetwater was fantastic, also. I had them at my door less than 48 hrs. after placing my online order.

Swing Bass 66's

Been using these for years. Great product, great sound!

Not very bright.

Not a fan. I replaced Nickel-coated Fender strings with these on my Jaguar SS, and they have almost no "zing". They fail to cut through the mix, even with as much midrange as they have. Your mileage may vary...

Not impressed.

If you like your strings super midrange-y with no "zing", sounding nearly dead right out of the package, these are the strings for you. I'm going back to Fender Nickel-plated 5250XL's. I like my new strings to be bright and "zingy". What a waste of $20.
