Thermally aged Adirondack spruce top

If you've ever had the opportunity to play a great vintage acoustic guitar, you know how magical of an experience that it can be. And if you've ever had a chance to strum a vintage Gibson J-45, you know that takes that experience to a whole new level. Now you can get that same inspiring tone out of your new Gibson Acoustic J-45 Vintage. Gibson thermally ages the solid Adirondack spruce top on the instrument down to a cellular level. This ensures that when you tickle your guitar strings, you'll be greeted with the voice only found on the truly classic vintage acoustic guitars.

Rosewood Fingerboard with Rolled Edges and Dot Inlays

The Gibson J-45 Vintage's fingerboard comprises high-grade rosewood, which is personally inspected and qualified by Gibson experts before it enters the Gibson factories. It's a resilient and durable wood, making way for a balanced and stable fingerboard, and giving each chord and note enhanced clarity and bite. The dot inlays on the J-45 are made of genuine mother-of-pearl-of-pearl, and are added to the fingerboard using a special Gibson process that eliminates gaps and doesn't require fillers. What's more, the J-45 Vintage's fingerboard boasts a rolled edge that's lightly beveled, which enhances the instrument's smooth playability.

Quality construction and setup

As discriminating guitarists immediately discovered, underneath the J-45 Vintage's flashy ornamentation is a solid guitar. This incarnation of the J-45 brings you the same round shoulder design, with a solid Adirondack spruce top and mahogany back and sides. These tonewoods come together to give the J-45 Vintage a sweet, warm tonality that sits well in countless musical situations. The guitarists at Sweetwater know how important playability is, and no J-45 Vintage goes out of Gibson's door without the famed Plek-assisted setup, offering you great action, spot-on intonation, and a buzz free instrument that is just about perfect.

Gibson J-45 Vintage Acoustic Guitar Features:
  • Gibson's classic acoustic workhorse
  • Thermally aged Adirondack spruce top for powerful vintage tone
  • Solid mahogany back and sides offer detailed, full sound

Sweetwater Exceptional

I've only been playing guitar for about five years, and I've been fortunate enough to acquire a Taylor here, a Martin, there, in search of the perfect instrument. I've had experts set up my instruments, but always suspected that there was something more playable out there, that I had not yet found "the one." Along the way, I never found the person who seemed truly sincere, passionate, and knowledgeable when it came to acoustic guitars. This all changed when I visited Sweetwater and met Greg Baum, although this was more than I wanted to spend, Greg's recommendation of this instrument was spot on - it is well worth the price. Great experience, great guitar, and worth it to sell my other instruments in order to have the Vintage J45. Playability is incredible, setup was perfect. I've only had it for a few days and I already feel like we're old friends. Great sound, easy to play, great feel, love it all the way around. Truly a vintage feel and sound, well broken in but new all at once. This is the one. In addition to the instrument, my trip to Sweetwater was well worth the drive. I've always had great experiences with Sweetwater online, but going there was another level of wow. Thank you Gibson, Greg, and Sweetwater.
