Perfect Shred Machine
I purchased one of these bad boys a little over a week ago, so far I'm in love with it. Aesthetically, I was sold on the color and reverse headstock, it really is an awesome looking guitar. Being a Jackson pro series of course it plays like a dream and is very well built. From the factory the action is reasonably low and intonation is spot on, even after changing the strings and setting it up for D standard tuning I didn't have to make any major adjustments other than balancing the bridge spring tension for my strings and tuning. The duncan distortions were a concern of mine going in, but after playing it at a band rehearsal through my Engl Fireball 100 I really don't see a need to swap them, they're perfect for thrash metal. Very articulate and evenly eq'd, maybe a little on the harsh side but not enough to make me swap them, and they clean up very nicely. The Floyd is not a "special" series which is a plus. I believe it's Jackson's licensed version, there's definitely better versions out there but this one seems solid and I'm sure will hold up fine. The natural finished neck is silky smooth and thin, very fast and easy to navigate, mine even has some natural flame in it along the bass side which looks beautiful. Very happy with it, and my band mates love the look and sound of it. Huge thanks to Mr. Dave Walent and everyone at Sweetwater for this awesome guitar!
