Five stereo phrase tracks with independent controls

The RC-505 offers individual controls for all five of its stereo phrase tracks. This allows you to play five different loops simultaneously - the most ever in a BOSS loop station. Each track features dedicated record/overdub/play and stop buttons, allowing you to quickly control your performance with the touch of a button. If you don't like your mix, simply adjust it with the individual volume faders. These individual controls make for endless creative possibilities.

Versatile onboard effects

With an arsenal of built-in effects available at your fingertips, the RC-505 makes it easy to modify your sound as you perform. Use the input effects to create unique, robust sound qualities while you're recording, or employ track effects for real-time processing of loop playback. For overall processing, the RC-505 provides global compression and master reverb effects. Featuring preset buttons programmable to your favorite effects, this loop station is a versatile asset to your live performance.

Phrase storage and onboard rhythms

The phrase memory feature of the RC-505 allows for the storage of up to 99 different playback and effects settings, as well as phrase track data. If you have a certain setup that you always begin with before every performance, you can save and recall your preferences through the User Set. Let's Play A Game Of Loops!

The Boss RC-505 is everything I could have expected in a loop station. The interface is very fun and intuitive. Phrases can be edited in a variety of ways by adding effects like filters, reverb, chorus, etc. Thats just for starters. 5 separate stereo tracks that can be twisted and mangled to how you see fit. Adding more to the creativity and fun! Very cool unit that puts a new twist on dropping lyrics and beat boxing live in front of the crowd as well as performing solo! Glad I got mine! Thanks Sweetwater!

The Boss RC-505 is superb!

This unit offers pretty much unlimited looping flexibility and combined with it's ease of operation it really inspires creativity--and I mean that. It's made to be operated by hand mainly, though most of the functions can be operated by footswitches/controllers. The only draw back with that is if you want to play your instrument continously while setting up loops, well, thats not really possible so you have to go the footswitch route. Sonically, it stands on its own for live performance with really no need for outboard processors--that is, it sounds great and the fx sound very good too. Can insert and imprint fx on the input side and/or add fx to the live output mix, they are NOT loop fx(can't string together)though you can loop an outboard fx prossessor. You CAN imprint an fx on the input side and then add a different fx on the output and switch between 3 fx buttons(options) for live tweaking. It makes sense when you get the thing and use it, believe me and you can edit fx parameters to some degree. It has phantom power. All 5 tracks can be panned in the stereo field and it all goes thru stereo outputs ONLY. The limit to stereo outs only maybe places some limitations for studio recording, I suppose. The status LED red/green/yellow light circle around and can be set up to track where you are at in the loop which is a GREAT feature. Once you set up the initial loop track it you can then come in anywhere in the phrase in subsequent tracks which is very convenient and you can overdub onto each track ad infinitum. Well, I could go on but suffice it to say, the RC-505 exceeded my expectations and is pretty much 'ridiculous' for creative looping. If you can't get it done with this thing, well, you might as well give it up. This unit will inspire any real musician. My only real complaint is that it doesnt have more tracks, like 8, 12, 16, but hey, I can live with it. ;)

The Boss of Loop Stations

Everything I ever wanted in a loop station. This is a far as you can expect to go these days without resorting to a computer. Solid, reliable, good interface. Pros: lots of loop features, I love the LED rings that count down the loop length (you have to set them to do that--the default is measure length). Thoughtful design--highly configurable. Cons: input/output levels and pan is difficult to access (well, it's not a mixer) and sound quality is not bad, but could be better (well, it's not a pro recording rig).

Audio Quality Sucks!

Audio quality sucks, but the features are great. So what do you do with something like the RC-505 when the sound of it sucks?
