fun for even drummers!

By Dylan Mandel from GLENSIDE, PA on March 30, 2023

Took a few to get the routing correct, but thanks to Roq who helped via many emails and phone calls, this reamp box helped link up some pedals to effect some prerecorded drums. Roq was super patient and extremely helpful, and now my studio has a whole additional level of vibes.

Weak Signal?

By Brett on March 2, 2023

This reamp box is my first, and is built very well. Sounds great and is dead simple if you just want to reamp.

However, to try an figure out where I should set the 'level' control to match my guitar's natural output; I ran my first reamp'd signal BACK into the same input on my audio interface that I used to record the dry signal from my guitar just minutes before. That signal showed to be 3.19db lower than the original recorded signal. Even with the level on the reamp box at max. So what I do is add that back to the recorded signal leaving through the send/output (not at the fader) but I noticed it sounded a bit strong and eventually settled on adding only 2db.

My guess is that this is a symptom all reamp boxes face due to signal degradation that happens when doing something like this. But I haven't seen anyone online mention this. Can I be the only one who's tried to monitor the output signal of a reamp box and noticed this drop. 3.2db is a big change from your amp's perspective which will drastically affect tone; and I could hear & see a very noticeable difference when playing the same phrase live vs reamp'd.

Once I did add 2db back, the reamp'd vs live recorded tracks levels and tone were virtually indistinguishable which is all I wanted in the first place. So just be aware to check your reamp signals when using this or any reamp box.

This Thing Saved Me

Always have a re-amping device on hand! Especially a cost effective one from Radial!!! We lost our 15" sub and I had to do something in a bind to get the low end for our PA. I was able to use this and take a spare 15" bass amp and then output my mono / sub bus to this feller and then to the bass amp. Wasn't quite the same, but it sure did the trick when we needed it! Have been wanting to use it for dialing in guitar tone and such, but my guitarists were not really into the whole tone journey thing.

Great Little Re-Amper

By Lester Holman from Memphis, TN on October 30, 2021

It does the job it's designed to do, sounds great and isn't overly expensive. What's not to like?

Does the job perfectly

By Stan from St. Augustine FL on September 15, 2021

Once again TJ came through with a solution for me. I like to practice bass with headphones (thx TJ) on, while listening to tracks from my iPhone, mixed through my Allen & Heath mixer (thx again TJ) with an XLR Bluetooth receiver picking up the iPhone signal (thx again TJ). But…sometimes I like to practice with the phones off. The ReAmp sends a noiseless signal from the mixer to my bass amp so I can hear everything from the mix in the room. Stellar service from Sweetwater once again!

It really works

By Curt Fish from Missouri on May 16, 2021 Music Background: 45 years playing guitar

I like it when a product works exactly as advertised. Not to mention you could probably drive a truck over it and the truck will take more damage. Only thing is it puts out a lot of noise. Putting a noise gate between it and your amp helps. I'm sure this is typical, but a heads up would have been nice, of have some type of filter on board to help with that. Other than that, I'm very happy with the product's build quality and function.

Perfect tool for the job.

This thing is small, simple, and weighs about what a brick does. I got it, plugged it in with a TRS to Male XLR cable (don't forget the cables), patched it through to my interface on one side and out to a TC Electronic Plethora x5, then back into my interface. My DAW of choice is Studio One, so I dropped Pipeline XT (the outboard FX sync plugin native to Studio One), synced it up and started recording. I only have one of the Reamp boxes so far so I'm going into the Plethora x5 Mono and coming out Stereo.

I recorded a pair of tracks through the Helix Phaser, a pair through the Mimiq Doubler, then a pair through an insane reverb (all effects in the TC Plethora), then mixed the resulting tracks in the DAW. I know this sounds like a review of the Plethora, and in a sense it is (get one), but the tool that made it easy to use my effects pedal outboard with my DAW is the Radial PRO-RMP. Without it I'm limited to plugin's in the DAW and line level outboard tools like compressors and EQ's. This is the coolest. Being able to dial in a sound and record is like live recording. Granted, I can dial it back in the mix by mixing with the original track, but there's something really awesome about being able to touch a real knob and get an effect the way I want, then lock it in.

Whether you are going out to an amp or effects, this is a great tool. The signal is clean. The box is solid steel (I seriously think I could drive a truck over it and never lose signal). and the setup couldn't be more simple. I'm getting another one so I can go out stereo as needed.

Now, for the other thing. I don't do this often, but it's time for me to address the elephant in the room. I love this tool, but I likely would have waited a while to get one if I had been dealing with any other store than Sweetwater. These are the guys I call when I think I'm on the right path, but I'm not sure. They always have good advice, and have never steered me wrong. This is a great tool for me. If you're still not sure, call your Sweetwater rep and see what he or she has to say. You may have an interface that can't take instrument level back in and you'll need one of the active boxes. No worries; talk to your rep. Either way, if you're looking for a reamp box, you can't go wrong with Radial and Sweetwater.

Perfect solution

By CJ from Northern CA on March 6, 2021 Music Background: Music creator/audio editor

I got this reamping box in a pinch, during a session. It saved my behind! My guitar recordings have come out so much better, not that I can take the time to perform a clean direct performance, at any hour of the day. I can test multiple amps on multiple takes, I could go on listing the benefits. If you don't have a reamping box, you should definitely look into it as a guitarist/bassist !!

All you need

Using this to send up to +20dBu line level signal to my pedal board from an Axient Digital receiver. Perfect tone representation! The volume knob allows you to match your wired guitar level.

Did the Trick!

By Sweetwater Customer on July 22, 2019

A bit of a nonstandard application here. I don't like broadcasting my bass through our PA system as my amp and column sound much better. I send my bass to our board via DI and use the Radial to reamp the return signal to the amp. Works wonderfully and gives the front house engineer full control of the bass volume. No buzz, no hum, plenty of adjustment latitude and no power!

Sweet!

Great tool to have in your home studio

By Thomas Messina from Raleigh, NC on April 4, 2019

I pretty much knew that this little device was going to be good but I did not know how much so. This thing just works as advertised with no additional complexity. Don't change anything. I like the fact that the level pot's shaft is recessed so you cannot accidentally bump it and change the level. The ground lift switch is a necessity and it works as expected. The XLR connector is a bit tight when inserting the male XLR but I would rather that be the case that a loose one. We'll see how it goes in the future but for now we're good to go.

Pleasantly NOT Surprised

By eric larsen from Livermore, Ca on September 25, 2018 Music Background: Rocker, Music Industry Professional

I've been hearing about ReAmping for some years now, but have always settled for Amp Sim plugins while my collection of tube combos gathered dust. I finally decided enough was enough and ordered the Radial ProRMP. My selection was based on the brand name first and budget second, and needless to say, the shopping experience online with Sweetwater was fantastic. I received a call from my rep as well as VERY detailed tracking info and settled in to wait (un)patiently.

The unit arrived and I connected it to my DAW (my TASCAM US-20x20 USB Audio Interface made it SUPER easy). I took a moment to double check my routing, hit the standby switch and.. it worked. The first time. Like NOTHING ever works the first time. I wasn't ready for it. Since then I have been getting to know the uber-useful level control and have great results every time I fire this baby up. Highly recommended!!

Does all the job

By Oleh on September 25, 2018

Recently I decided to start reamping. Need to save some time during recording at my home studio. This little box is amazing. No problems and no hum. I get the sound I need. And I'm not annoying my neighbors with my takes on guitar, while shredding through my 6505.

Great product, except

We’re using this in the situation of getting from a wireless guitar receiver into a pedalboard. Immediately dealt with our ground hum issue, no discernible loss in tone, great product. My one major complaint is the XLR connector is not locking! We had it come unplugged during soundcheck and realized how easily it cold come undone again. Easy fix radial!

Radial rocks and rolls

By Lance Z. from Maryland on June 7, 2017

I'm using a pair of these in the studio, and they do exactly what they're supposed to in exactly the way described by Radial. This simple-looking passive reamper is another really well-built, virtually indestructible piece of magic from Radial. I needed to take line signal from an outboard mixer into a pedals (requiring the ProRPMs), then from the pedals to line inputs (requiring a Radial JDI Stereo). I've become a huge fan of Radial over the past year, especially using their toys in the studio.

GREAT AFFORDABLE REAMP BOX

By Mark King from Space Coast Florida on April 15, 2017 Music Background: Pro musician and engineer

I use this to match the aux send from my mixing console to the input on my Fulltone Tape Echo, it works perfect, removes ground loops, great tone, very heavy duty construction and affordable price.

Lets me use my favorite echo device on vocals during mixing, highly recommended.

Good music to all!

Does what it's supposed to do, what more could you want?

By Nick M on October 7, 2015 Music Background: recording / mixing engineer, artist

Product works very well. Very low noise floor. Solid build quality, high quality parts. No bells and whistles, but keeps cost down. Some more expensive units allow for more coloration or control, but come on we're re-amping. Let the tubes / pedals do that.

THE re-amp solution

Extremely durable, looks nice and performs flawlessly. Used it a few times and I love it.

Easy and Functional

By aron blue from Brooklyn, NY on April 23, 2014 Music Background: Musician, Recording Engineer (project studio)

It works great, super-easy to set up, sounds awesome. One tiny quibble is that the level interface is a screw! Is there no way to put a knob or tiny dial there? I know all I have to do is insert a guitar pick, but ... it feels like someone forgot something in the design.

Great for Slaving Guitar Amps with your digital rig.

By Jon Clarke from United States on August 20, 2013 Music Background: Recording Engineer, Session Guitarist, Student

Before I had this box, I was having a hard time getting the tone I made in the studio (all software based amp sims etc.). I tried to go out of my interface into my amp and I kept getting a loud noise and it was very annoying. Later realized I wasn't doing this correctly, I had to change impedances and I needed a DI going in and a ReAmp box going out. ProRMP was a great inexpensive way to get my studio tone live. Not only does it do it's job, but it does it LOUD. I run this guy into my Effects Loop Return to slave the power amp on my 2x12 combo and it sounds MIGHTY. Best investment ever, hands down.

It works!

It works exactly the way it should. I have a red eye and I hear no difference.

Radial ProRMP

This is a great product, exactly what I needed to help with some guitar and keyboard tracking. It is well made but still affordable, and it doesn't mess with tone. A+

Does its job, plain and simple.

By Daniel Whitt from Alabama on August 16, 2011 Music Background: Record Producer

Everything about this unit is fine. It's sturdy, durable, and pristine. The only complaint I could possible have is that I wish it also had a 1/4" input in addition to the existing XLR.

Overall, this product is allowing me to route in a super-creative way, and it dissolves the hurdle of impedance matching.
