Awesome!

This device is everything advertised and more. I use it with a Sennheiser MK5 condenser mic and an Ovation Legend. The mix is perfect. I can use the mic out jack to send my performance to a powered monitor. I love it!|

Great Unit --review after Update from TC Helicon

The Perform-V is a really nice unit right out of the box. I've used it with my band for a while now, so I thought I'd write a review finally. Not much of a learning curve. The features like doubling, reverb, and echo are all right there and easy to hit on and off, and are easily tweaked to your liking via the dial knob. The tone button is priceless and I leave that on all the time, and the anti-feedback and pitch buttons are nice to have as well. The Tap tempo button works great for your echoes, and the Talk button is nice when you're talking to the audience and don't want all the effects still ringing through. Just a couple 'flaws' ...the whole beaming thing is cool, in that you can download the app to your phone, look through a TON of presets and beam them right to the unit. But at the same time the whole beaming thing is weird making an old modem sound that would be really annoying trying to do on stage in front of everyone. Plus you need the volume all the way up on your phone for the unit to hear it properly or the beam won't be successful. That being said, for a gig I'd only plan on using the 3 presets, which is really like having 6 if you beam in different presets and use the 'hit' function. So having the 3 would get me through a gig without needing to beam any others in the middle of a show. The next flaw I've found is that the Harmonies don't track your vocal really well and you can get some really bad sounding harmonies, so bad that I decide not to use it. They work pretty well if I'm playing an acoustic guitar and singing in my bedroom, but in a whole band environment with drums, bass, and guitars the unit can't track the vocal well enough. The last flaw was one of the biggest for me, but TC Helicon has released a firmware update that makes it better. I didn't like that there is no input level knob to control your volume. Instead there's the 'set' button. When you first power it up and before you start playing, you hold that button for 2 seconds or so and sing how you would normally. That sets your volume. There was a glitch that would cut your volume back in the middle of playing, making it a mixing nightmare if you didn't have someone running the soundboard for you at all times. TC Helicon however released an update that fixed that issue, and it seems to be working great now. That being said, if TC-Helicon makes a version 2 of the perform-V I really hope that they include a controllable input volume knob like on the Harmony GX-T pedal. Another flaw that a lot of people talked about was how bright the unit was. TC fixed that too in the update, enabling you to hit the 'set' button and then turn the control knob up and down to set the brightness. Props to TC Helicon for listening to their customers and making improvements. All in all a nice unit with great sounding effects and tone, and the ability to add new effects is great. Plus it makes a great practice and creative tool. Since TC updated it, it's like I got a new toy all over again!

Awesomeness is a small package.

I am pretty much blown away by this unit and I haven't even used it in a live environment yet. In the studio it is so much fun to play with, and to get multi effects of this quality and at this price is remarkable. The available effects, with so many subsets really allow you to tune it to your needs. The tone button does wonders for the punch and clarity of the vocals before any effects are even added. The pitch is as stated. If you are off key, it will not help. It is just a subtle nudge. I am very happy with my purchase, and I haven't even looked in the available effects via the app!!! Cons: Not sure what model of mic stand this is supposed to fit, but it certainly doesn't fit anything I've ever owned. Way too small. The lamination of this device could stand to be reduced, but nothing I can't deal with.
Music background: Live performance and studio work.

about Beam issue

I confirm the issue about beaming, sometimes it works, sometimes not. at first I could only beam on preset 3, not on preset 1 or 2. And after I have beamed dozens of sounds, very fun, suddenly it doesn't beam anymore (no "flashing blue" as you said). I retry another day, with my headphone connected, and then it works well, and on any preset button selected... does it comes from room-sense mic, from my tablet (I am in an absolute quiet room) ? I don't know...at first I was thinking about a bug, and I wanted to update firmware. but it was uptodate so... I am really satisfied about this product, very simple, very powerful. but TC Helicon should work on this strange changeable behavior with "beam" function. because it is so useful ! I also use it with MP-75 mic, with which you can activate any button (preset change, reverb, ....). Note that by default MP-75 activates change preset (but I have not found for now how to return to this original configuration, once I have affected another button)
