Unmatched tuning and stability

Washburn and Ola Englund loaded the PX-SOLAR17DLXC with an EverTune bridge. The all-mechanical EverTune bridge system helps you stay in tune longer under any playing situation. mall springs keep constant tension on your strings, giving you long-lasting tuning stability and incredibly accurate intonation, too. You can even adjust it to control how much your pitch changes when you bend a string. Even if you're playing a long gig or recording session, your tuning will be more stable regardless of your playing style, tuning choice, temperature, or other variables. Combine this with Buzz Feiten tuning and you'll never go back to a normal guitar again. The Washburn Parallaxe PX-SOLAR17DLXC Ola Englund Solar signature 7-string guitar is optimized to give you the best playing experience possible!

Better intonation with the Buzz Feiten Tuning System

Hey, the Western tuning formula isn't perfect - that's why Washburn equipped the Parallaxe PX-SOLAR17DLXC Ola Englund signature 7-string with the Buzz Feiten Tuning System. This compensated nut and saddle system corrects the inherent intonation problems any musician faces when using standard and drop tunings. The result? More precise, stable tuning across every single note on your fretboard. Washburn is back

I have been a fan of Washburn before, then they kind of slowed down for along time with building such high quality guitars... Well with some help from Ola Englund, the Dream of owning a high quality guitar that is built like a tank.. Washburn has really stepped up and made guitars that people dream about...This guitar has a great feel and balance to it. The evertune bridge keeps you locked intune and the sonar pickups sing with the richest of harmonics... Get yours today and explore for yourself

Mmmmm yes.

I was playing a schecter damien platinum 8 string with active emg808s. For being an active pick up I was not very impressed with the sound. Almost too digital. I figured this out one day when I decided to pick up a Gibson at the local guitar store and plugged into a very nice tube amp. Immediately noticed I was getting these lovely tones that my schecter lacked pretty greatly. This led me to believe I needed to try different pick ups, preferably passive since the Gibson was so much closer to the sound I wanted. Buuuut, I wanted 24 frets and at least a 7 string. Did some very extensive research and tons of comparing and decided to trust in the crazy talented swedish dude on you tube. (Ola Englund) Received this washburn a day before writing this review.... That's how quickly I fell in love with it. The ever tune bridge is absolutely awesome. Had no trouble what so ever acclimating my self to it. The awesome people at Sweetwater even tuned, intonated, and set the bridge at the sweet spot for bends. I tuned the 7th string down to A, checked intonation and didn't even need any other adjustments. Took a total of barely five minutes to thoroughly check their already perfect work and tune to my favorite tuning, drop A.

Washburn Seriously Upped Their Game

While I've heard that the guitars manufactured in Washburn's original Indonesian factory are somewhat lacking in terms of build quality, this model, which is produced at their new Indonesian site, is an absolutely stunning instrument. Shredding on this masterly crafted beast feels as good as the design looks.Fretwork, coating, joint - all top notch. The neck is pleasantly flat (not Ibanez levels of flat though) and a blast to play thanks to the satin finish and the smooth ebony fretboard.Once set up, the Evertune bridge makes recording sessions practically hassle-free. "Notes dying out quickly" like mentioned in another review is not something I can confirm. The standard scale goes surprisingly well with seven strings and lends itself to faster styles of play. However, the guitar is not without its flaws. For example, a very faint crackle produced by the pots tells me that the wiring could be better, but that's a minor, easily fixable issue. Then there's the old locking nuts problem with thicker string gauges: anything upwards of 60 won't fit unless you cut off some of the wound wire. The bridge cover is not recessed (as opposed to the pot cover), which might be a direct result of fitting the Evertune into a comparably slim body.Lastly, the stock pickups (Seymour Duncan Solar, a modified version of the Duncan Custom 5, which has an Alnico 5 in the bridge pup) sound a little mushy for my taste when palm muting. Other than that, they sound clear and aggressive, and this is a pretty subjective matter anyways.Except for the suboptimal grounding, one can't really blame Washburn or their Indonesian staff for these issues and they're not exclusive matters either, so I'd say they're rather neglectable - especially when compared to other Indonesia-based guitars put out by other companies. One thing Washburn should definitely consider, though, is to offer a matching hardshell case. You'll have a hard time finding one that actually takes the Solar's huge headstock while also being suitable for standard scale necks. And once you've found one (like the Gator GC-Elec-XL ABS), you'll realize that the guitar does not fit snugly and moves around unless you add additional padding. Also be advised that, since the headstock is unconventionally long and angled, the case can easily build pressure on the headstock.

Where have you been all my life?

I just picked this up and I'm kicking myself for not doing it earlier. The guitar handles beautifully, the neck is fast, and the pickups are much better than I expected. The star of this show however is the Evertune bridge. Evertune is the most significant innovation in electric guitars since the introduction of the Floyd Rose trem. I will never record with a non-Evertune equipped guitar again. I only have one small issue. The tone knob doesn't make any changes to the tone until you get 95% rolled down. Then it does it all at once. It's probably a bad pot or wire job, but it's worth knocking half a star off. Regardless, I love this thing and I will be purchasing the 6-string version soon.
