Casio Privia PX-160 Digital Piano at a Glance:

  • Rear-ported speakers deliver superior sound
  • Duet Mode makes this instrument perfect for lessons
  • USB connection and 2-track recorder open up your possibilities
Realistic piano sound with AiR

To reproduce the sound of the finest acoustic grand pianos, the Privia PX-160 digital piano features Casio's proprietary AiR (Acoustic and intelligent Resonator) processor. Accessing more than three times the memory of the previous generation, the AiR processor utilizes grand piano samples recorded at four dynamic levels of sampling to deliver grand piano sounds with long natural decays and remarkable expression. To further the grand piano experience, AiR adds realism by simulating the sound of the open strings when the dampers are raised by the pedal.

Rear-ported speakers deliver superior sound

The Casio Privia PX-160 digital piano's stellar-sounding 8w x 8w speaker system provides you with remarkably rich tone and projection, due to its rear-ported design. While the Privia PX-160's speakers are open to the front like most digital pianos, they're also ported to the back, giving you solid low-end response when it's placed against a wall. Of course, the Privia PX-160's rear-ported speakers also sound incredible when your sound is projected towards an audience.

Duet Mode makes this instrument perfect for lessons

In addition to the excellent keyboard action and piano sound, the Casio Privia PX-160 digital piano is the perfect instrument for music education. Featuring Casio's Duet mode, the keyboard can be split into two equal ranges, allowing student and teacher to play at the keyboard simultaneously.

USB connection and 2-track recorder open up your possibilities

The Casio Privia PX-160 digital piano's built-in 2-track recorder and metronome allow you to practice any tempo and later listen back to what you just played. The recording features can also be used to capture moments of creativity and remember song ideas. What's more, it's easy to connect the Privia PX-160 to your computer with its built-in USB MIDI interface. The Privia PX-160's 88-note weighted scale hammer-action keyboard makes it an ideal controller keyboard for using with music software applications. The USB connection even allows you to move songs to and from the computer into Privia PX-160's flash ROM, so you can save songs you've created.

I am glad I purchased from Sweetwaters.

I purchased the casio privia px-160 from Sweetwaters. I've had it over a year now, and I absolutely love it. Also I love how they call every few months to follow up on their customers to ensure they are still satisfied.

We live this keyboard

It is the closest you can get to the task thing for the price. Staff was so helpful!

Know What You're Getting

Bottom line, this is the best feeling keyboard I've ever used, both for playing piano and the actual feel of the surface of the keys. The keys are textured instead of flat smooth plastic and it matters a great deal for a confident feel and lack of slickness from oil and sweat from your hands. The PX-160 is great as a hardware keyboard. There are 17 sounds, and the main piano sound is good enough to gig with. And it doesn't weigh a ton. The harpsichord sound is unusable to me as are most of the others. But I didn't get this thing for the internal sounds, I got it for the feel and the intent of triggering premium third-party sounds. For that, along with the playability and feel of the keyboard, this thing is unmatched. If only it had a pitch bend controller. For the price and the intent to use third-party sounds, this is a killer keyboard. For use as a piano, even for working on classical pieces, the PX-160 is quite capable, even sounding great with just its own built-in speakers. I would NOT use this exclusively as a keyboard player in a gigging band. This keyboard is for the loving touch of a player that wants lovely feel and control of outside sounds. With another keyboard with a synth feel, together with this one controlling a MIDI rig like a laptop containing your sounds, I would gig with this PX-160. I need to say that as well.I love this thing for what it is, a great keyboard to play on with a very good piano sound. I use it at home with my DAW and could not be happier. But you need to realize exactly what it is and what it is not. It would be a great instrument for someone taking piano lessons as well. It is light with a small footprint and in this case you should get the stand and pedal board which are options.

Love It

So far, so good. I bought this keyboard as a birthday gift for my girlfriend and it is very nice. I play a little as well and I can honestly say it feels very realistic. It also sounds extremely good recorded in stereo into an interface on my home recordings. I took off a half star because the build quality is lacking a bit in that it feels pretty cheap on the plastic parts, but for the price, I guess I shouldn't complain. I also got the pedal system to go with it. Very nice addition.

Great machines for the price

This machine has a great piano sound and it feels great to play. I am using it in a choir room that we only use just before services, and it works great for the final run through of the song we are doing.
