This reissue aluminum Les Paul stop tailpiece is beautifully crafted like a piece of fine jewelry and will certainly enhance the overall sound, and tone of any Les Paul old or new. The aluminum imparts a 'singing' tone to guitar due to the characteristic density and weight of aluminum itself. You'll notice an interesting acoustic resonance when you play the guitar unplugged (acoustically) and when plugged in and amplified, becomes this very tonal enhancement I described.
The nickel will indeed tarnish and take on that lovely vintage aged look--unless you want to keep polishing it with every string change; but you will not be disappointed by the results of adding this tailpiece to your Les Paul. And yes...I certainly do have one on own MY Les Paul too. This is definitely an upgrade to any of these Les Paul guitars of any vintage.
