Bought this for my wife's guitar!

My wife - a car enthusiast - wanted an SG, but she wanted it "murdered out". So I quickly searched out replacement parts and ordered a bunch. The Gibson tailpiece fit right in the same spot, no real work needed to get the studs into the same spot. Looks great, no rattle, no buzz or hum. Perfect!

Nicely done set

I bought this set to fix a cheap Maestro guitar that I thought I would give a try, just for the heck of it. Since it was super cheap, I figured the guitar wouldn't be the greatest quality, but it might have a strange yet cool sound of its own. Unfortunately, as time went on (a couple years), the studs began to bend. It wasn't noticeable, at first. Since I typically don't play this guitar much, and will leave it unseen for extended (months) periods of time, I was quite surprised to find the studs had fatigued and actually snapped off on both sides of the bar. I decided to try my hand at fixing this thing, since it isn't a high quality instrument, and if I fail, I am not out much. Since, evidently, the Maestro brand is a component of the Gibson domain (as stated on this guitars headstock), I figured I would replace this cheap hardware with some quality Gibson components. I was hoping to buy only the studs, but could not find them offered alone. This set was the next best option. When I received my new parts, I was immediately impressed by the difference in the heft of these pieces when compared to the original components. I am not a metallurgist, but am pretty sure these new pieces are more dense and will probably hold up much better. I am curious to find out if it effects the tone and sustain of the instrument. Alas, I am unable to find out quite yet. Another factor in the quality of hardware such as the studs, is the use of fine threads or course threads. Unfortunately, the new studs are fine, the old inserts are course. I was hoping the new ones would fit, but before I received them, I was unaware of the difference between them. No big deal, that's why the set includes new inserts! Now I just need to learn how to get the old ones out, and put in the new. I can't wait to hear if there is a difference, because these pieces really seem to be of much higher quality. Trying to make this a more playable guitar is becoming quite a fun hobby. I am glad we can find such quality parts here.

expensive but good

the actual product is great - heavy, sturdy, thick... i'm not expert so i won't say i hear the difference in tone or what not. but you can just feel that it's right and because it is a gibson product, it's pricey.

Close

My genuine Gibson parts didn't fit my genuine Epiphone guitar. The post did not fit correctly, and I don't want a gold post and a black stop piece. Currently, trying to get a shop to expand the hole because I'm not comfortable don't ng it. But I guess that's what I get for trying to go from gold to black.
All because I change to a sliver P90 style pickup (gold cover not an option for the pickup)
