Perfect device. Works well with pro tools 10. Just the pre amplier its nice but the Apogge duet 2 its better. Iam a voice over.

Great Box

By Markymarkandthefunkybunch. from Florida on December 2, 2011 Music Background: Pro Producer.

I use this mother with Ableton Live Suite 8 and Komplete 8 Ultimate. It sounds great and i'm happy with it i'm in static.I would say for the price your not going to get a better sounding interface.Unless of course you want to jump up to the RME Baby Face or Apoge duet 2.Then your only going to notice a subtle difference in quality if any at all.Avid uses circus logic amps in the Mbox3 the same amps found in the Apoge duet 2 and Rme Babyface yo.Save your lettuce and buy this mother and also get Ableton Live 8 as your Daw of choice. Are you ready to make awsome sounding music if so just add this mother to your cart and hit buy it's as simple as that.Don't think just do it you will not regret it i promise you.

A great buy!

By ZZealleauss Archuleta from Santa Fe, NM USA on November 14, 2011 Music Background: DJ & Electronic Music Producer for years.

I am an electronic music producer and I bought this because my previous sound card went out. I hooked this up to my computer & monitors and instantly heard the clarity of sound I was looking for. I was able to hook up my mic I've had sitting around and finally record some vocals. The mic sounds great through this thing and its a cheap mic.

I've sent my Pioneer CDJ's through this to record some live mixes and the sound quality again is excellent.

The build quality on this is amazing. The outside metal casing feels so solid. Its heavy and feels well built from the moment you pick it up. The knobs are so smooth and heavy duty feeling. Nothing feels cheap on this.

Overall I'm very satisfied with the purchase. It is larger than I thought from the pictures which was nice. I was expecting a little dinky interface (like what some of my friends have) and when I opened the box I was pleasantly surprised to see this beast staring back up at me. Also the packaging was real nice. I've been building custom computers for 10 years and unpacking a new gadget is half the fun and this definitely satisfied. I'm holding on to the box in case I ever need to take it places.

This is my first interface purchase and I am very happy with it and thrilled to see it in my studio every day. I took half a star away only because I would really love to see an interface with XLR out instead of balanced. Otherwise 5 stars definitely. If you don't care about it having balanced then this is 5 stars from me.

Exactly what I was looking for

By Collin from Washington, DC on November 10, 2011 Music Background: Live Sound/Recording Engineer

Recently added Pro Tools 10 to my setup (in addition to Sonar X1) and it was also time to upgrade my interface. I decided to go with Avid hardware as I'm working more and more in PT10.

I'm very pleased with this interface so far. On my Windows 7 PC, It worked with PT10 right out of the box I didn't have to do any tweaking at all (which was not at all the case with my previous interface), .

The build quality is as good as everyone says. Thick aluminum case, feels very solid in your hand (much more than any of the other USB interfaces I checked out). Also, all the connection jacks and knobs feel very rugged and secure.

I went back and forth between this and the pro version initially. I rarely need more than two channels of A/D, so I decided on this model after learning that it shares the exact same preamps and converters as the pro model. So far I'm impressed by the onboard pres and the DI's. The pre's are very clean, even at full tilt. Definitely very usable.

Once again, I give major props to my sweetwater rep Tom Maxwell for helping me through this process. Thanks again!

mbox hardware

Really a great piece of equipment. So easy to use. The mbox makes my production and recording process lightyears fast. I couldnt be anymore excited to see where avid will take us in the future, and thanks to sweetwater for making my order so easy and fast.

Truly a great Box

By Aston Clyde from Los Angeles on August 9, 2011 Music Background: Electronic

Truly a great sounding audio interface. I own the Duet 2 and RME Babyface as well and I must say the Mbox stands on its own. The Apogee probably sounds the best to my ears but the Avid does NOT sound worse just different. It is very stable on BOTH Mac and PC and the integrated DSP is fantastic especially the reverb to track vocals. You can produce radio ready mixes with all these boxes. The Mbox has a very punchy but somewhat darker sound. I can not recommend Presonus Studio One Pro enough as a DAW btw. These are good times to make music. The available gear is a riot :-)
