Yamaha PSR-E443 61-key Portable Arranger Reviews

4.5 stars based on 5 customer reviews
  • from March 20, 2015

    Love it

The onboard speakers and quick access to hundreds of sounds - combined with a cheap price tag make this a 5 star purchase in my book. Great for less experienced keyboard players to gain hands on experience.

The lowest price arranger you can get!!!

If you are a Pro or looking for a Pro Keyboard, look something over $2,500. But if you want something affordable and GREAT, this is it! It has all the awesome features (too many to list) of the previous model, which I upgraded from (the PSRe433), plus aux input with balance control, voice suppressor, control from iPad or iPhone, easier transpose button, more voices. If a Pro gets to it, he wouldn't be disappointed. Do you want to use it as a toy? You can play with it. Do the speakers will fill out a stadium? No, but will do a good job in a typical house (it has ports to an amplifier, anyway). Is it Hammer Graded? No. It's not a piano, but it's a touch sensitive keyboard. Take in to account the price is around $250 (and I think it won't change much until it gets replaced at least 3-4 years from now (it's 2014)) so do not try to compare it to instruments 10 times it's price. You'll get more than what you pay for. You can use it as a piano, as an arranger, as a midi keyboard, as a synthesizer, as a teacher (lessons, metronome), as a DJ (patterns and live knob controls), as a small PA (aux input), as a portable keyboard (which is what it is), as a toy (give it to your grand kids if you think you are too much for it), good for composing (you can save songs and parts to play or to transfer to a computer), and more. At home we are all musicians playing different instruments and even having a piano, this keyboard never gets lonely. My suggestion on accessories: get at least a power supply (it works on AA batteries too) and sustain pedal (around $15). Comparing it to Casios of similar price? Casios at this level have a cheaper feel, in components and materials. What I miss from this keyboard? 76 or 88 keys or an even better transpose set of buttons, but at this price, 61 keys is a decent number. Another thing I love it'd have: Full control of all settings from iPad (maybe soon Yamaha surprise us with an App fully featured). But right now, for the price, this is the best you can get. (And NO it's not a toy).

    Fun instrument

I used this keyboard for several music classes, and half the time I wasn't even paying attention to the teacher - I was just plugging in the headphones and exploring! There's a lot of fun to be had here, and you get good sounds and functionality for the money - especially the velocity-sensitivity, which is the most important thing to me. Even the demo songs are good! It's not affordable enough for me as a student, but if you have 250 bucks this is a great investment.

Play for Fun with my Grandson

Great Purchase - Lots of Fun

I was looking for an inexpensive keyboard to 1) help me understand scale theory, 2) give my wife a chance to learn to play using the Yamaha Education Suite, and 3) make noise with my 6 year old grandson .

Met the need on item 1; however to be fair, any keyboard would meet my needs.

Jury's out on Item 2. Haven't tried to access or use the Yamaha Education Suite; so I can neither praise or criticize it.

Item 3 was a 5 Star success! We're having a ball. We play lead over the DJ Patterns, experiment with the voices and effects, and sometimes just go wild with the drum kits.
