If you are turning an old room or an old office into your new home studio, buy a few of these. Without them, you are not properly protecting your investment - and trouble could come across your power lines any day.
Absolute must if you are using high quality equipment. It just makes sense to protect your investment and get the cleanest power possible. Have several and use them all for my equipment.
Monster Power PowerCenter PRO 200
This is an excellent piece of equipment at a great price!
Unshure of Effectiveness
This came bundled with a low end Monster instrument cable, that was on clearance at the local GC. The cable is mediocre, and I do not know if this does anything at all. I have connected several different amplifiers, to several different power sources, i.e. surge protector / power strip, wall outlet, extension cord, etc. There is no difference in the amount, or type of noise coming from the amps, as far as I can tell. Maybe I'm just using it wrong, or expecting something it does not do? Your mileage may vary.
Not for eliminating ground loop hum
If you want to eliminate 60 cycle hum in your sound system don't get this, get the Hum-X. If you want to condition the power for your plasma TV, this is perfect. Just don't expect it to perform miracles on your sound system. We thought to would be a bargan at half the price of the Hum-X, but the Hum-X is the real bargan and these were a waste of money.
Was it really necessary?
I saw something claiming to do the same thing at Lowe's for about one-third the price. I'm really not sure this device does anything but look impressive. I plugged it in at one place I played and no indicator lights came on at all. I wasn't sure what that meant because there were hardly any instructions provided with this thing at all. Since this was the only power outlet being provided for me, I went ahead and plugged everything in and played the gig just fine.....as if I didn't even have this so-called "Power Center Pro 200". Seemed to me that I had clean power even without it.
