Great Value in This Signature Jazzbox

For warm jazz tones, the Ibanez Pat Metheny PM2 hollowbody electric guitar won't disappoint. And you'll see it's a huge value once you get your hands on it and plug into your favorite amplifier. Designed with the help of jazz virtuoso Pat Metheny, the PM2 is designed to bring you the fast playability and rich tone every jazzer needs. The all-maple body gives you the note attack and detail you need for your fastest playing to be heard clearly, further enhanced by the vibrant-sounding Super 58 custom humbucker at the bridge. For a great-playing jazzbox that'll exceed your expectations, look to the Ibanez Pat Metheny PM2 hollowbody.

Ibanez Pat Metheny PM2 Hollowbody Electric Guitar at a Glance:
  • Smooth-playing ebony fretboard with binding and fret-edge treatment
  • Set-neck construction gives you exceptional sustain
Smooth-playing ebony fretboard with binding and fret-edge treatment

One thing that sets the Ibanez Pat Metheny PM2 apart from other hollowbodies at this price is its bound ebony fretboard, complete with Ibanez's Artstar fret-edge treatment. The high strength and density of ebony is common on high-end instruments, and the fretboard binding adds an elegant look while also enhancing playability. The frets are rounded at the edges to complete the smooth feel. If you play it without looking at the price tag, you may think the Pat Metheny PM2 would cost much more than it does.

Set-neck construction gives you exceptional sustain

The set-in mahogany neck on the Pat Metheny PM2 is a more solid connection than you get with a bolt-on neck design. That means better vibration transfer from the neck to the body, which means you get a fast attack and long, long lasting sustain. Plug in the Pat Metheny PM2 and turn your amplifier up, and you'll see exactly what we mean.

Ibanez Pat Metheny PM2 Hollowbody Electric Guitar Features:

  • Super 58 custom humbucker has the right balance of detail and richness

Incredible

I guess Ibanez is rewriting the rules on archtops. This guitar for about $, including a great case, is exceptional. The fit and finish, the intonation, fret finish and appearance would lead you to believe it costs twice as much. The binding is beautiful. Some of this might be Sweetwater's excellent setup. Every guitar from them is perfect and ready to play. The action is superb, low and smooth with no fret buzz at all. The guitar itself has a great acoustic sound. Many fixed pickup archtops sound a little thin until they are plugged in, this one sounds great acoustically. In a small room you will hear the guitar and the amplifier. The sound is smooth and dark just like you would expect but if you crank the tone up it has a pretty good treble end too. If you are interested in an archtop that is light and comfortable to play, with a great acoustic and electric sound, this is a great choice.

I own a lot of guitars, and I must say, for the money, this guitar rocks. Excellent build with quality materials. For the price, you can't go wrong!
