For many years I owned an Ampeg B2 Head and loved it's dependability and tone. It went to many, many, shows with me and I easily got the tone I loved with it. Sadly, it developed some issues a few years ago and I started using my QSC amps on stage along with my pedalboard with A SansAmp Bass DI as my preamp. I was able to get the volume I needed on stage but never that "Ampeg" sound I was so in love with. I decided to try out this little head hoping to get the tone I wanted, again. WOW! It's all back. With just three tone knobs I can get exactly what I need and the effects loop works very well with my board. For practice, it's nice to be able to plug in my computer or MP3 player and play along with songs. What's also cool is that the volume knob on the head only controls the volume of my bass so I can have two separate levels from my music and bass. As far as output, this thing is more than adequate for practice or onstage. It's dynamic and punchy and a blast to play through. The only thing to be aware of is that the preamp gain doesn't get "gritty" like an SVT can, but that's what my pedals are for.
