    Great P bass

Great classic Fender P-bass. What you would expect from a Precision bass from the inventors. Very solid tone, feel, and Charcoal Frost Metallic is just beautiful. This is a solid addition to anyone's collection.

    Very Surprised

So no reviews have really covered the neck of the new P basses and no local music store in my area had any for me to A/B. However, one local store did have a 2009 USA P bass (so they say it was a 2009). They also had a few American specials; both J and P. I was not comfortable with the neck profile on any of the three as I have shorter fingers. But I had to have a P bass and decided to "go out on a limb" and blindly order one off line. I 'am VERY glad I did! Not only is Sweetwater a consistantly fantastic dealer to do business with, but this this bass arrived with a decent set-up right out of the box. My first impression was the fret work; it was outstanding! Second impression was the Charcoal Frost and rosewood board, which the pics on line give no justice. My third and most important impression was the neck profile. Other than the nut width, this thing feels like a Jazz bass. I have never, in the last 26 years, picked up a P bass that played this easily. It doesn't have that "ball bat" feel. It's slim and comfy for smaller hand players like myself. The new C/S pickups have that vintage P bass tone; I enjoyed hearing them growl through an old 1964 Ampeg that I keep in the studio. The only complaint I had was removing the plastic off the pickguard. Every screw and nut and washer has to removed inorder to evacuate all the plastic. It's a minor complaint in comparison to how easily this bass set up. With a little truss rod adjustment, the neck straightened beautifully. The HMV bridge is the best I have ever seen on a Fender bass and the saddles are heavy duty and easily manipulated without the worry of slippage. I love this thing! If you're hesitant, like I was, on getting a P bass, go for it.; you wil NOT regret it. Get it here for sure, these guys are the best, HANDS DOWN!

    So far so good.

So far so good! This bass came from sweetwater with a perfect setup. From the nut to the bridge, the action is at good height (for me). It plays very easy! The hardware all appears to be very solid.

I like the charcoal frost metallic/rosewood. I don't see too many people with this color. It's subtle, but unique.
