The Yamaha PAC612VIIFMX Pacifica features a Seymour Duncan Custom TB-14 humbucker in the bridge position, which delivers powerful tones fit for riffing and soloing alike. Seymour Duncan SSL-1 pickups in the middle and neck positions provide wonderfully crisp and clear single-coil tones. The 5-position blade, master volume, and master tone with push-pull control lets you split the humbucker and dial in all kinds of tonal colorings to fit your style and exploration in sound. Finally, a Wilkinson VS50 bridge provides stellar tonal support, as well as a tremolo arm for more creative exploration in style.

No point in buying any other brand under $

This guitar is fantastic. It arrived set up out of the box, though I did set it up again to better fit my preferences and string gauges. It played great out of the box, and still plays great! You know how you can buy an affordable guitar, then pay double the original price upgrading parts, pickups, etc.? Just buy this guitar instead and skip the hassle and save some money. There isn't a single component on this guitar that needs upgrading. I might eventually swap out the neck pickup on this one; the stock SSL-1 sounds fantastic, but it's pretty bright, and I might want something darker.

I'll admit it, I'm a huge Yamaha fan. I've never played a bad instrument they've produced. Currently, 4 out of my 5 guitars are Yamahas, all under $ each.

Worth the money, but...

The good news is the guitar is worth the money. Satin neck, HSS platform, fairly light weight, attractive. The bad news, for me, is 1)the frets are not as tall or wide as I'm used to and a little rough in places, and 2) the bridge humbucker, though tight and articulate, lacks any warmth or sweetness.
As an instrumentalist, I need the guitar to "sing", and this is a little shrill in a "Hair Metal" kind of way. The guitar arrived with the low 6th string noticeably sharp in intonation.

Fun to play

Let me begin by writing I really enjoy playing this guitar even though I only gave it 3 stars. The natural wood model of the Pacifica has a satin finish so the neck feels real good as is the action. The neck is a bit more narrow than you're shreader sporting a Floyd Rose but this is welcomed because of the size of my hand. This is my first set of locking tuners and Seymour Duncan's and they are wonderful. Lots of tone on this guitar. The Wilkinson bridge is nice although the knife edge design does mildly scrap your hand if you move your palm across it parallel with the strings but not so much that it bothers you.

Cons: The frets could have been prepared nicer. They did feel a bit gritty but that seems to smooth out as you play it plus there is a bit of an edge on the ends which you feel going up and down the neck but again it isn't so bad that it is bothersome. One thing that surprised me was the tone and volume knobs were not set properly on the posts and wobbled when turned but I easily fixed it myself.

Overall the guitar is fun to play but because of the fretwork I would suggest spending a bit more on a nicer guitar.
