Galaxy Audio PA6BT Powered Hot Spot 170W 6.5 inch Personal Monitor Speaker with Bluetooth Reviews
Traditional wedge monitors can be a pain. The cables, the weight, the bleed — as a performer, sometimes it's just not worth the hassle. The Galaxy Audio Hot Spot Bluetooth powered monitor makes dependable stage monitoring a breeze, delivering clean, crisp audio straight to your ears over wireless Bluetooth. At just over 6 lbs., this full-range (80Hz–18kHz) speaker uses the latest amp technology to move 170 watts of vocals, keyboards, or guitar through its tiny, capable frame. Plug directly into the Galaxy Hot Spot Bluetooth and engage its onboard compressor/limiter and EQ, or stream audio over your phone. Independent levels balance your sources. An XLR Thru makes short work of daisy-chaining multiple Hot Spot Bluetooths together for a cleaner, lower-noise stage environment.

Perfect for unique gigs
When we perform at a decent volume in an environment that supports that volume, floor monitors do the trick. But lately we have been playing inside small restaurants during dinner hour, and the rooms are ambient with clattering and chattering. But our volume has to be low and sometimes we can't hear the floor monitors because we can't turn them up enough so not to be too loud. In ear monitors don't cut it for us for various reasons. So, in comes these Galaxy Personal Monitors. We can now place our monitors right where we can hear them, on a stand in front of us. The volume can be controlled from the front. Ideal for these situations. At 7 lbs each, we eliminate heavy floor wedges. They sound fantastic and produce clear powerful volume. We daisy chain two for front vocals.
Exactly what I was looking for!
I'm not a very good singer but I'm forced to sing backup as a matter of necessity in the bands I'm in. Being able to hear myself clearly is incredibly important to the bands well being lol. The PA6 on a mic stand in front of my face is PERFECT! We are a garage band and play a lot of outdoor events and stage volume is very 70's and 80's style - loud as **** and this little monitor still manages to cut through the muck and allows me to hear myself clearly. I wish I had got this years ago. Once again a huge shoutout to my SE Jeff Rohlfing for answering all my silly questions and giving me great advice yet again!
Hotspot Monitor
Works well for our keyboard monitor for our church services.
Excellent!
I've used a hotspot for the last 25 years. It finally bit the dust so I picked up a new one. Love it. Perfect monitor for my need.
Great piece of gear with lots of flexibility
This little monitor puts out a lot of sound. It also has "thru" jacks on the back, so you can pass signal through it to other audio equipment. Highly recommended!
Great sound for multiple uses
As a personal stage monitor it's amazing, especially with the 3-band eq, cuts through the mix so you can hear clearly without needing to be too loud, and with no feedback. But, that's just the beginning; it's also great for playing back music though blue tooth and even as a practice amp, especially for an acoustic guitar singer/songwriter with the 2 channels. Great sound and a lot of power!
Perfect Personal Monitor!
Love this compact personal monitor! The two input channels lets me run the full band mix through one channel and my instruments in the other channel so I can adjust my personal monitor mix perfectly!
Galaxy Audio PA6BT Powered Hot Spot 170W 6.5 inch Personal Monitor
This monitor provides excellent sound for my personal monitor needs. Has plenty of power and is Bluetooth capable.
Galaxy Audio PA6BT - solid tech and great value
I had used the original passive hot spot back in the 70's when the pre-GalaxyAudio company of Superior Sound first developed them. Fifty years later I stated a five-piece band gigging in 2015. We each bought the powered PA6 monitors and used them at rehearsal and on stage. We immediately found them indispensable units that took up much less stage floor space and put the sound closer to our ears.
They are a unique compromise between sound tech controlled wedges and performer controlled in-ear monitors giving us each direct control over our own monitor volume and tone. They are very well made, light, and small but powerful. Used with multiple players and dual channel cabling, each unit can connect to the sound board so that channel 1 volume control is only for the users voice and channel 2 volume for all the other singers voices combined.
The mic input is also a great tool for personal practicing singing while playing an instrument. With the upgraded PA6BT product version with Blue Tooth lets the user play along with prerecorded music, a very useful added tool. The current PA6BT and it's PA6 predecessor are very versatile, durable, compact monitors at a very affordable price.
Great little tool
I got one of these little beauties last week and wish I had whenever they came out , it"s worth the few extra dollars and unless I"m playing a huge show with a professional sound crew this bad boy will be at my side .our keyboard player uses in ears and can hear this unit 15 feet away and I only have it turned up a 1/4 of the way with great tone and no feedback issues
hot spot monitor
It's a nice monitor. I can hear everything and everyone in the band while playing. I don't know why a lot of sound techs insist a performer to use in ear monitors. In ear monitors suck! This hot spot monitor really has a good sound and clarity to it. Others in the band are having problems hearing through their in ear monitors. I have no problem hearing through my hot spot. I love it!
Personal Monitor
I am a part time musician (drummer) of over 25 years playing anything from 50-person private parties to several thousand person venues. I was looking for a monitor to use when playing smaller gigs with 2-3 band mates. This monitor does what the other reviews says it does. Plenty of volume, clarity is excellent. The 3 band EQ makes all the difference. If you looking for a loud inexpensive monitor option for large venue situations this is probably not the best option. I would say that this monitor works best in smaller settings where there is not a lot of stage volume. Very pleased with the monitor. Great buy!
Versatile hot spot
I've used this for about 8 months to supplement my band's shared floor monitors. When my vocals or keyboards are in the background of the shared monitors, I can give myself a little more sound of my mic and/or keyboards. I really like the output capability associated with each of the XLR inputs, as this simplifies tying the hot spot into the rest of the rig. Beware, though, it's not a direct box: if you connect into a 1/4 inch input, you will get nothing out of the corresponding XLR output. That wasn't clear from the documentation and is why I'm only giving this 4 stars instead of 5. I've found it easiest to run my keyboards through a direct box, into the XLR input, and then from the corresponding XLR output to FOH.
Much better than my Samson
I use this for a stage monitor and studio speaker in between. The volume knobs are very sensitive. Good and portable and mounts nicely on a mike stand. I have a Samson Expedition that does not sound half as good. Its a previous model to the one they sell now. I'd but this again.
I really wanted to like this
I was torn between having bulky floor wedges and in-ears (which I am not too fond of). This seemed like the perfect compromise and offered some control of my sound. I am the bass player in a 70's/80's/90's rock band and prefer to have some control over what I am hearing, so this looked like the perfect solution.
Here is the good: First of all, Sweetwater is always my go-to source because they truly understand customer service! The monitor arrived quickly and looks great. I like the 3 channels and multiple connectivity options/controls for each. It also includes the mounting hardware to place it on top of a mic stand. From the looks of it, the monitor is pretty rugged and Galaxy has been in business for a while under various names so they have been developing this type of product for a while.
Here is the not-so-good: While it may work for some people and other applications, I was really disappointed. At 170 watt rating, it was not very loud. I would expect something that powerful to be quite loud when only 2 feet from my head. The sound quality was similar to an inexpensive small boom box from 20 years ago. Even after tweaking various controls, I was only able to get an "ok" mix on it. My ears and taste generally lean toward a bass-rich mix similar to some of the Bose equipment and QSC equipment I own. The bass response on this unit was nowhere near what I can find in other small speaker systems.
Overall, I would say it is OK, but it doesn't work for me or my application. I had to return it and continue my search for something else. I really wished this had worked for me.
Nice EQ and Bluetooth Features but Randomly Shuts Off
When I first purchased this speaker, it appeared to be dependable from the reviews -- but when I played a couple of Yamaha keyboards through it, it started shutting down in the middle of a song and restarting about 20-30 seconds later. There's no guidance on how to prevent this from happening. I may be looking into the warranty/return terms on this product soon if I'm not able to get this issue figured out. To say the least, I'm extremely disappointed.
