Get High-quality Vocals from This Low-cost Mic!

To make your live vocals cut through the mix, you need a microphone that lets you dial in the the most gain possible before feedback. This calls for a well-made microphone with a supercardioid pickup pattern. The only problem is that supercardioid vocal mics tend to be fairly expensive. AKG's P5 handheld supercardioid dynamic microphone is one of the most affordable way you can get the results you're looking for. The P5 not only gives you a tight and powerful vocal sound, but it's also designed for routine live use. An internal windscreen blocks out breath sound and minimizes plosives, while keeping the diaphragm itself free of moisture. Plus, the P5's rugged, die-cast metal body is though enough to last a lifetime.

have preformed for years with a sennheiser 945.purchased the akg p5 on a whim, curious to compare it with other mics i own.compared to a nueman 105 akg 535 shure sm87a audix om5 and audix om6,this budget priced mic held its own and excelled ,it is now part of my personal choices for vocals.i would recommend the akg p5 any day ,large stage small stage ,it really meets up to its specs. try one you will like it !!!

Pleasant surprise!

I have nearly always performed live with an SM58 or a Sennheiser. I needed another mic for a bandmate to sing with, so I snatched up this little guy at a good price. I am really happy with the off axis rejection- if you ain't in front of this thing, you ain't gonna hear it! Thus, if you are a guirtarist that looks down at your fretboard much, I wouldn't recommend this. But, it does a great job at not reproducing plosives- even better than a 58. It is less bright than a 58, so if you want a little more air in the vocal you need to give it a little EG boost around 5-7 and/ or > 10... but it doesn't introduce much brittleness or sibilance when you do so. I'm really pleased with this thing.... and guess who sets the 58 in front of his bandmate and swiped the P5 for his OWN use....!?
