    Wow

Ok, I haven't bought a guitar in about six years. I have never bought one over the internet without playing it first. Until now. I bought this guitar because I like the demo and the sound was sweet.

I am in love. I got it today andI I haven't put it down. Hyperbole maybe, but, there are angels inside. The overtones are wonderful. They just make me smile. I am in love.

Fine Guitar without the high price

I am a hobbyist with about 12 years experience. I've had my P4DC for about 6 months and it is rapidly becoming my favorite guitar. The playability is excellent and the quality is 100%. Tone is much better than I would expect from a guitar in this price range, I have a more expensive Martin with the Fishman Aura system, and 2 Taylors with the Expression System. Plugged it, the electronics in the Takamine beats them both. (It also works well with pedals) and holds its own against the above unplugged as well. The only minor drawback - I wish they had used white dots on the fretboard as the wood grain ones are hard to see. But that's a really minor point as the fretboard purfing has usable black dots. I would highly recommend the P4DC to anyone looking for a top notch acoustic-electric guitar.

    Takamine P4DC

I was very hesitant to purchase a guitar on line, but was very pleased on the service I received at Sweetwater. I received my P4DC in a well packed shipping box. I cannot get over the quality and craftsmanship put into this guitar, reflective of an acoustic twice the purchase price. The sound is very even, good lows, mids are punchy and loud, and highs just cut through perfect. The neck is phenomenally quick, especially with the asymmetrical design I find certain chords are a tad bit easier to reach with my fingers. The electronics, there's not much to say here, just plain awesome! I would recommend Takamine to anyone, the fit and finish are excellent, the price point is perfect.

    Great guitar

I've only had this guitar for about 4 weeks, but so far I am really pleased. The solid Spruce top is beautiful and the Sapele back is simply gorgeous. I've been playing guitar for 50 years and this is the best playing acoustic I've ever owned. And, at least for me, it's also the most expensive acoustic I've ever owned( the last acoustic I bought was 30 years ago and only cost $100)! I know a lot of you probably have guitars that are 2-3 times the price, but not everyone can afford guitars of that caliber. So for those of you who cannot afford a $3000-$5000 acoustic, the P4DC is a very good choice. The action is really nice. It's almost like playing an electric. And the sound, well, it's great. I play and write a lot of different types of music and this thing holds it's own in all genres. It's good for finger style or strumming. And, the tuner is wonderful! This is one of the best tuners I have ever used. One word of advice. The more you play it, the better is will sound. Just like anything else, it needs to be broken in. I can't wait to hear how this sounds in another 3-4 years!

    Loud and Clear

I have had a few Taylors and Martins in the $1500 price range. This beats them all. I also have a Takamine ean 10c with cedar top that I thought sounded incredible, until I got this p4dc. It has the same great playability but a couple of notches louder with more crispness. This guitar is very very responsive and does not buzz anywhere on the neck. The action is set a bit high from Takamine, but I play a lot of bluegrass and country so it works great for me. The action could be lowered easily enough. This guitar may not have the Martin gut busting boom but it does rip perfectly in the low midrange level with great sounding highs(not that metal tinny sound), and is in my opinion, perfectly balanced tone wise. It is a perfect singer-songwriters guitar.

    Takamine P4DC

This is an amazing guitar for the money! Quality is excellent, sound is astonishing, and the neck is extremely smooth. I play several styles of music and this guitar is really suitable for all styles. The electronics of this guitar are second to none! Tommy Emmanuel and Doyle Dykes would both say, "nice guitar". The only thing that could be improved is the action, it could be a little lower for my taste, but that may be solved with a lighter gauge set of strings.
