Shure Professional PSM 300 Wireless In-ears

Shure's P3TRA215CL-J13 wireless in-ear monitor system puts the power of personal monitor control into your hands. The P3TRA215CL-J13 system is simple to set up - with one-touch frequency scan and IR sync, it quickly finds a clean wireless channel and automatically assigns it. MixMode technology lets you create your own personal mix using your bodypack, no more flagging down the engineer to make changes. And since Shure includes a set of SE215 earphones with the P3TRA215CL-J13, you're ready for the best monitoring experience you've ever had, right out of the box.

Convenient and easy control of your monitor mix

Shure's P3RA-J13 wireless bodypack receiver puts advanced in-ear monitor control into your hands. With professional features that give you in-depth control, the P3RA-J13 allows you to shape the sound of your monitor mix with mix and volume level controls, EQ, and volume limiting. You can also choose between MixMode and stereo modes, to create a personal two channel mix to dial in just what you need for a great performance. And with one-button set up, rechargeable battery options, and the rugged but lightweight metal clip-on design, the Shure P3RA-J13 wireless bodypack receiver makes great monitoring simple and convenient.

SE215 earphones provide great in-ear sound

Advanced earphone technologies for great, dependable sound
The SE215 earphones feature Shure's innovative MicroDriver technology, an advanced miniature driver design that lets these fantastic earphones reproduce sound from 22Hz all the way up to 17.5kHz with astonishing accuracy. They're also super comfortable and include different size and shaped adapters, so they fit tightly enough to block out 37dB of outside sound. Shure's technology and great isolation combine to provide you clear, reliable sound for your monitoring, giving you the tools you need to be at your best for every performance.

Powerful, noiseless transmission for reliable performance

Shure's P3T-J13 Wireless Transmitter answers your call for dependable and convenient in-ear monitoring options. Whether you're gigging or just jamming with the band, the one-touch IR sync takes the guesswork of setting up frequencies, so it's always easy to get great monitoring. And if you have been struggling to get a good mix in the mains, using in-ears completely eliminates floor wedges and the stage noise that's fighting your front-of-house mix. Shure's P3T-J13 wireless transmitter and PSM 300 series is an affordable alternative to floor wedges for performers who want to make the smart move to in-ear monitors.

MixMode puts monitoring control in your hands

You know what you need to hear to give your best performance and the MixMode feature on the P3TRA215CL-J13 puts you in control of your monitor mix. Not only can you adjust the volume level from the bodypack, MixMode lets you blend between two separate mixes - such as an instrument mix and a vocal mix - giving you just the mix you need. The P3TRA215CL-J13 puts your monitor control where you need it most, on the stage, and lets your sound engineer focus on what your audience is hearing.

In-ear monitoring can save your musical life

At Sweetwater, we've gotten smarter about our hearing, and we know that with the advances of in-ear monitoring technologies, personal monitoring is more accessible than ever. From hardwired bodypacks to professional-level wireless systems, artists are experiencing the best, safest monitoring they have ever used. Using earphones or headphones isolates your delicate ears from stage noise while providing fuller frequency responses at lower listening levels. Adding an in-ear personal monitoring system to your performance also decreases your risk of tinnitus (ringing in your ears) and ultimately, hearing loss. And just imagine how much better your gigs will be when you can hear yourself without fighting night-ruining feedback from the floor! Keeping your ears in good working order means you'll be playing better than ever before and will be for years to come.

Super nit-picky 4.75-4.8/5 for home use.

(TLDR at the end)

I've used this for a couple weeks on a daily basis. The intended purpose (I know, I know, super overkill, right?) is to make my headphones wireless.

You might ask yourself... what? Don't they make wireless headphones for a fraction of the cost? Well, yes. They do. But, there's two problems with wireless headphones. 1) Bluetooth craps all over the detail of the sound. It was never bluetooth. 2) Sennheiser makes a set of RF headphones which sound really good... when they work. The achilles heel of those headphones are that they run on the same frequencies as wireless routers & access points. So, if you don't live out in the wilderness, those (although good sounding) might not work well for you. They didn't for me. Too much interference from the 20+ access points & wireless devices near an apartment. ...constant dropping of the signal.

My 1st experience with Shure wireless was when I purchased a wireless mic for giving presentations. When I started earning a bit more and turning my attention to my audio setup at home, I thought I would see if I could reattempt the wireless headphones but with a different approach. The reason I did this (in case you haven't had wireless headphones) is that I am tethered to my computer when attending virtual conferences etc. If I need to get up for any reason, I have to either wait for a break in the presentation or abandon the presentation for a minute or two and lose the train of information (this is incredibly disruptive and unproductive). Also, I stream. Sometimes, I'm doing things that are not directly at my computer and being wired makes it near impossible to get notifications. It is just SUPER convenient to have good quality sound and not wired to your computer. Combine this with a wireless mic and it's just a huge change if use your computer for content consumption or creation.

Audio Quality: Really Good. Very close to being plugged directly into the AI. The only negative thing I can really point to that's noticeable is a extremely short drop in signal on occasion. (This happens to me when the signal has to go through my rack, 2 walls, and a fridge. I'm counting this as a win. Relocating/changing the antenna might be a solution for this...not sure. Otherwise, it does pretty well. Extremely usable with good enough sound quality to notice the deficits in audio quality from people streaming/YouTube with less than ideal signal chains and file compression. I can even be up a floor or walking out to my car and still hear just fine.
I think there's a slight EQ change going through the wireless. I've noticed a couple things in my music that I hadn't before. So, there might be some slight coloration to the signal. I would not characterize this as a loss of quality though. If you're doing music creation, you'll want to be plugged directly in (obviously).
Also, I've used these with 250Ω headphones for hours at a time without the volume on the body pack maxed. No problems. If you have something like 400Ω+ headphones, your experience might not be great, but 250Ω works just fine.

Build quality: Fine-very good. It's about the same as the BLXR wireless mic unit I have. I dragged that in a rack bag from home to class for a coupule years I think. Still works just fine. I did pick up the cheaper microphone system with the plastic body pack. GET THE METAL ONE! If you're not touring with these, will the plastic one work? Yes, I doubt you'll break it at home or even using it for live presentations like I did. However, I have much more confidence in the metal one...and it just feels better. Also, combining this with the Shure charger is just better. Do it. Yes, they're expensive, but you won't regret it. In fact I'll go as far as to say you're wrong if you don't. When I get home from work, it's charged and waiting on me. I don't have to fuss with AA batteries going dead and changing them out...it's just ALWAYS charged and I don't have to check battery levels when putting it away. It will always be ready to perform when you are.
If you're worried about breaking an antenna, go up a level. The antenna is part of the body pack and can't be user serviced. So, if you get this one, be careful with the antenna. This is the only reason why I might upgrade. At $400+ for a new bodypack, it's something you should consider. Currently, theres about a 60% increase in price to the Shure system with removable antennas. You can burn 1 body pack and still be under the price of that system, but not 2.

So...long story short:

Audio quality: Excellent with momentary (less than 1 sec) drops in signal when having to power the signal through a couple thick bois. (details above) Perhapse antenna palcement (or upgrade) might help with this...perhaps stronger signal with the next expensive system. I think I notice some slight coloration...but very slight.

Build Quality: Good-very good. I used the similarly built BLXR mic system for years in a mobile deployment scenario without issue. GET THE METAL BODY PACK. If you're worried about breaking an antenna, go up a level.

Other notes: When you get the metal one, get the Shure charger & the battery. I know, money is a thing, but it's worth it if you're getting a wireless system at this price point.

Pretty Darn Good for the Money

Salesman Chris helped choose the right band range for our area (and to avoid conflicting with our existing wireless microphones and IEM's).

Spend the time and minimal expense (software) doing a wireless frequency coordination (Shure Wireless Workbench is sweet). These are solid systems.

Worth The Price To Save Your Hearing

As a vocalist I struggle with wedge monitors. Guitar amps being turned up mid-performance was always a killer for my ears and my voice. This product offers complete control and the clarity is unmatched. I fell in love the first time I used in ear monitors and these are by far the best for the price.

I'll never go back to wedges!

I've been using wedges for as long as I've been performing live and this is my first IEM System. Since I trust Shure for my wireless mic, I knew this would be a "no brainer" and I was correct! The Shure system is fantastic! My only complaint is that the single driver IEMs that are included are not very comfortable, so I purchased the Westone UM 30, which I highly recommend as well!

This is a great system and I can honestly say that I will never go back to wedges!
