You'll Love This Affordable Mic for Bass and Kick Drum!

When you need a microphone that will let you capture both the transient details and the full-bodied sound of low-pitched instruments, turn to AKG's P 2 dynamic microphone. This remarkable instrument microphone uses a humbucking coil that not only keeps its sound free of noise (always a challenge when close-miking guitar or bass cabinets) but also produces a meaty sound and a frequency response that's tuned toward the low end. Supreme SPL handling and a rugged all-metal body allow the P 2 to stand up to even the most demanding live sound conditions, making it an excellent microphone both onstage and off. The P 2 also comes with a convenient carrying case.

Great Mic

This is a great mic. I use it on my bass cab and the extra range captures all that precious low end. Has a solid feel and the price point makes this a very attractive choice for people who don't want to break the bank.
Music background: Working bass player/vocalist over 30+ years.

Good kick tone

I mostly mix acoustic acts and stringbands, but as my little sound business grows, drum kits are entering the picture. Couldn't pop for the AKG D112 right now, so I took a shot on this model, with it's smaller price tag. So far, so good! Works well on upright bass as well.
Music background: About 40 years of gigging, 15+ running a recording studio, live sound.

Tight kick sound!

When used with a compressor miking the front port of a kick drum this mic sounds fantastic. The bass is deep and tight. Great for bass cabs, too!
Music background: Active, Gigging Bassist & Live Sound Engineer
