Schecter Omen-8 8-string Solidbody Electric Guitar at a Glance:

  • Killer tonewood combo balances rich sound with serious sustain
Overwound pickups deliver pure, heavy-hitting metal tone

What's an 8-string axe without hard-hitting tone to back it up? Loaded with custom-designed Schecter Diamond Plus pickups, your Omen-8 is guaranteed to deliver the crunchy rhythms and red-hot leads you live for. These overwound ceramic humbuckers easily pack enough punch to rocket any decent amp into overdrive ecstasy. From the lowest drop-tuned fundamental to the highest pinch harmonic, you'll feel every note your play on your Omen-8 thanks to these amazing pickups.

Custom Schecter hardware lets this 8-string axe perform like a champ

One of the great things about Schecter's more affordable guitars is the hardware. Unable to source an affordable 8-string bridge that still delivered the performance and stability serious guitarists demand, Schecter simply decided to create one. This Schecter Custom-8 bridge gives you the stability you need, plus a massive range of intonation, so you can tune your Omen-8 any way you like. Also a nice surprise, the 15:1 sealed and permanently lubricated tuning machines on the Omen-8 let you bend strings all day long without spending half your time tuning.

Killer tonewood combo balances rich sound with serious sustain

As with any electric guitar, the choice of tonewoods Schecter used has a huge impact on both the sound and feel of the Omen-8. To keep this substantial instrument light enough to play for hours yet resonant enough for metal, Schecter selected basswood for the body and maple for the neck. This combination gives the Omen-8 plenty of bite without limiting the low-end impact you can expect from this guitar. Add to that a naturally conditioned rosewood fingerboard, and you've got killer sound and feel.

Schecter Omen-8 8-string Solidbody Electric Guitar Features:
  • 1 of the most affordable 8-string electric guitars ever made
  • Custom hardware delivers top-shelf stability for an afforable price
  • Dual overwound ceramic Diamond Plus humbuckers give you pure metal tone
  • Lightweight yet resonant tonewoods provide plenty of bite to go with chest-pounding lows
Go 8-string for less with an affordable Schecter Omen-8 electric guitar from Sweetwater!

Schecter Omen-8

I've had this guitar for about a week now and am absolutely in love with it. This is my first 8 string, and I jumped straight from a 6, no problem playing it at all. It's extremely comfortable to play, cleans are crystal clear, distortion is heavy, and it just looks bad***. Came out of the box professionally set up, amazing action, in tune, and ready to rock. The only reason I gave it 4.5 stars is because when drop tuning the F# to E, it can get a little floppy due to the scale length only being 26.5". All around it's a fantastic guitar for the money. As always with Sweetwater, shipping was quick, guitar showed up perfect, and my sales engineer, Mike Hammond, is an awesome and professional guy.

YUS

I have to start off saying I love this guitar. I love music, I love every genre, jazz, metal, blues, ska, etc. This instrument which I was very skeptical about, blew my mind. People said it was very heavy (and I bring a guitar every other day to school), but this guitar isn't that bad. The weight's distributed nicely. Also, my pickups weren't voiced as bad as people say. I have the white gloss finish of this guitar and it's stunning. It has this nice bouncy tone which I can play with to fit whatever my needs are. The pickups are a bit muddy, but I'll change em out whenever. It's not a big deal. The surprising thing to me was the neck. This guitar is actually more comfortable to play than my Ibanez S420, I don't know why, it just is. My guitar didn't come with much problem, but the strings were way too light. I adjusted it to remove buzz of the low E. But, I'm going to order the DR 11 gauge Tite-Fit 8 string set and go get this professionally set up for maximum epicness. Killer 8 string.

Well built and functional 8-string

Excellent build quality as always from Schecter. It's simple, well finished and has clean fretwork. I'd like a longer scale length on am 8-string, but it's acceptable. If you're just transitioning to 8-string or don't have delicate dextrous fingers (I don't!) it's going to be a challenge to adjust to the narrow string spacing. I'd intended to use it for alternate tunings and fingerpicking as my first electric guitar since 1990, but the pickups don't have the right sound for my ears. Great distorted though. Definitely something you want to try out extensively before making the commitment. As always with Sweetwater, John Ptak handled the sale quickly and the setup was perfect out of the box.
