    Great Analog Sound

I play an American 4-string G&L in a rock band. Sometimes it's really nice to get that fat analog deep sound to kick the subs and enhance the music. I can go down to low a or b quite easily and it just really sits well for some things. For 75 bucks, it's hard to beat. Lots of tone control as well. ONE THING YOU MUST DO THOUGH: Only play one note at a time. This thing is strictly monophonic. If you need a polyphonic octave generator, then EHX makes one (the POG, and Micro POG). This thing will make all kinds of noises if you play two notes at once. So you must be controlled when using it, but heck, i guess you should have some control in general.

    Does the job...

Picked up this pedal to use in my cover band. Our singer has us change keys on standards to better suit his range. Sometimes the roots don't cut through the mix when you get higher up on the neck of the bass and the songs are missing that thick fundamental. This pedal does the job and you can't beat the price and EH quality. As mentioned in the other review, this pedal only works for single notes. If you hit chords with this pedal engaged beware! All in all a great pedal and a useful tool for any 4 string bass players out there.

    EHX Octave Multiplexer

I use this as my "bass" for my cover band through my looper. It does exactly what you would think it would do. All of the 'limitations' are correct (no harmony, gets a little confused on quick lines, etc)
This really is a great little unit though, even a twice the price. I am very impressed overall and would recommend it especially if you are sans bass. :)
