Audix OM6 Microphone at a Glance:
  • Dynamic mic with vocal-friendly presence peak
  • A real "singer's microphone"

Dynamic mic with vocal-friendly presence peak
The Audix OM6 is a dynamic, hypercardioid, hand-held vocal mike. The OM6 uses Audix's special VLM (very low mass) technology and employs a gently rising frequency response from 2-10kHz. The microphone has a response very much like a condenser and is very responsive to transients and harmonics.

A real "singer's microphone"
The OM6 is a singer's microphone. If you need a microphone with a midrange boost this is not going to help you. If you're not looking for coloration but would appreciate a tight pickup pattern the OM6 is for you. Crosby,Stills, and Nash used the OM6 to deliver their trademark vocal sound. If you want to get the ultimate vocal blend on stage, you can't beat the OM6.

Great Live Mic

I like many others was a Shure fanboy for the longest time, but since buying this my 58 hasn't been taken out of its case. Excellent feedback response and crystal clear vocals that cut through the mix to make your techs job much easier. I'm in a rock cover band and it sounds just as good with ballads as it does harder rock with screaming. Seriously, the best sounding live mic I've ever used you will not be disappointed, well worth the price point especially if you play out a lot.

Natural Vocals

This mic sounds better on a wider range of singers in my experience than anything other than an SM58, but is more natural than a 58 and of course the feedback rejection is superior.

brill mic

if you want a great mic for gigs get this one I have bought all the big name mics you can think of and this is by far the best' Shure/Rode/Beyer/Audiotech/Senn/ eat your heart out

Best dynamic for trained female vocalists

SM58's are well-suited to the male vocal range, but sound rather lackluster on female voices. The Audix OM-6 has just the right resonance and SPL's to let a trained female vocalist really cut loose without fear of distortion or feedback. But it's a real hyper-cardiod and does not cater to sloppy mic technique. Reserve it for the pros who will definitely notice the difference.

Good Mics for some people.

I bought two of these Mics for use, they sound a lot better than the SM-58 but beware, some signers voices will sound like crap on this mic and you'll need another mic in your kit for them.
