Rode NTG-1 Shotgun Condenser Microphone Reviews

Directional Condenser Shotgun Microphone

By now, we all know that when the multi-award winning RODE company puts its mind to creating a mic, it's going to be solid, rugged, great sounding, and a lot less expensive than microphones that are sonically equivalent. The NTG-1 represents RODE's genius for innovation in the field of designing microphones specifically for video applications.

Saved me time editing to fix noisefloor!

By Annie Roa from New York on July 2, 2020 Music Background: Spanish Voice Over Talent

New York life is difficult when it comes to noise. With the quarantine and more people working from home, the quality of an audition becomes your pass to booking the job. I've been dealing with a tremendous amount of mechanical vibrations coming from m neighbor's and I just can't ask them to turn off the AC every time I have to record an audition. I have had to treat EVERY SINGLE SPACE between EVERY WORD I SAY so the background noise is not that audible. That's zero productive and super exhausting.
So I had to get myself a mic with a narrower pattern to try and decimate the issue. And this little guy has worked fine so far. Though I haven't tried it yet with the worst conditions but the quality of "silent sections" is A LOT better and I barely have to intervene.

The perfect mic for my home studio

By Victor Castillo from McAllen, Texas on June 9, 2020

Mounted this mic on an articulating arm in my audio/video studio to film sermons, to do live streams, on and on, connected to a Presonus Studiolive 32sc I also bought here at Sweetwater; it's the perfect Mic for what I needed. Thanks!

Fantastic Mic !

By Rodger from Wichita, Ks. on November 5, 2014 Music Background: Audio Production, Narration

I did my research before buying the Rode NTG-1 and I learned it would help eliminate excess noise. I live next to a busy street and I was looking for mic that wouldn't pick up the noise coming into my booth of which I'm in the process of upgrading. Anyway my other mic is great but to sensitive for my environment. The Rode NTG-1 has a Super Cardioid pattern which is very tight and to my surprise the noise level dramatically dropped in my recordings, however the quality of my recordings went up and my clients love it (which is what you want of course). If you are in a noisy area this is the mic you want. I HIGHLY Recommend the Rode NTG-1 and even if your not the quality of this mic is Awesome. For the money you can't go wrong plus you get a 10 year warranty for Free! I don't know of another company that offers that kind of warranty. Rode could charge a lot more for this mic and it would be worth it. In closing this is an EXCELLENT Mic.

Great mic for the price.

Very impressed with this shotgun condenser. I'm using it for voice capture on a new shred guitar instructional dvd I'm shooting right now. For the "tips" portions, I'm also using a Giant Squid Audio Lab Lav mic with equally awesome results. I have less than $300 wrapped up in both mic's, & the audio clarity is nothing short of professional. I'm very happy with this Rode mic & it has great off axis sound rejection. I highly recommend it for anyone recording pro audio for video.

Worth the money

I purchased 4 of these mics to use in a house of worship and I was not disappointed. The clarity of these units are great, doesn't have a muddy floor noise. I called Rode before the purchase as to which model I needed and this is the they recommended.

On-Camera Shotgun

An ideal mic for ENG work. Light weight and good pick-up. Low-noise. Sturdy construction. Could spend a lot more...but why? Does the job very well!
