Great solution for drum isolation
I hate the sound of electric drums...hate. However, acoustic drums in a small to medium size church environment can get overpowering at times even with the best players. To alleviate this we researched isolation and landed on the MiniMega. It does exactly what it says it will do. I took a reading with a db meter at the front of our stage. Reading averaged around 102 without the system. After putting up the shield our reading was 72! It took around 3 hours to put it together the first time. It is very spacious for the drummer as well. I wouldn't go for any of the smaller isopacs if you have a full drum set with a floor tom. Unlike the only other review, we found if following the instructions properly the MiniMega was very sturdy and should last a long time. We've been using this system for almost 2 months now with no major or really minor issues which hamper it's effectiveness. This was part of a campaign over the last few months to lower our stage volume and get as much sound into our sound system as possible without excess stage volume. We were able to achieve a 52% decrease in stage volume after isolating the drums, percussion, and electric guitar camps with solutions from ClearSonic.
My only complaint with the system is the door. Sometime in the future I hope they develop a better way to handle the door. It's very cumbersome and awkward to move but I only removed 1/2 a star because of that. #firstworldproblems
Bottom line: If you're in a small to medium size church and are tired of mixing to the drums, have inexperienced drummers who have one volume, or just want to improve the overall mix for the congregation this is a great investment. You'll need mics and I recommend the samson 8-kit which is affordable and extremely effective to get these drums to the board.
