Love it!!

As a bassist for over 40 years I have a nice stable of amps. From a 70s SVT to a pignose. This replaced my Ampeg ba 110 for my practice amp. I'm a old school dry player but I love having the great effects. Its loud enough for me playing alone and I look forward to running it through a p.a. or mixer. The models an eq all work well. The tuner is sub par but that is my only complaint. And the battery powered feature...incredible.

Fun little amp

This is a great little battery powered (if you want) practice amp with a lot of good features. I especially like the rhythm functions to practice with. I don't know why they don't make this into a powered up bass version of the Katana. 5 watts is a little weak, 50 to 150 watts would be a big seller. I don't know by Roland hasn't already done it. You can line out it into a more powerful amp although a single unit would be better.

Awesome tiny amp.

I've played with many practice Amps and nothing for the 200-300 price range has this much sound diversity. If I could add anything to this amp it would be more options for distortion. Aside from that it has everything you could ever want in a play at home amp.

Extremely Versatile Amp

I think Roland hit it out of the park with this product. It's light-weight and sounds surprisingly deep and full for bass; I've even used it for small acoustic gigs with both acoustic and electric basses and it performs wonderfully.

The option to power it with batteries makes it great for playing anywhere; I've had it last for almost 15 hrs on one set of 6-AAs.

I've used this amp for practice and gigging with bass, guitar, and lap steel...the effects are fine and the included rhythm function works great for improving your timing.

Overall, a very full-featured package, and great bang for your buck!

Could be the best battery operated amp!

I bought this amazing amp back in 2017 and used it for jamming with my pals on our camping trips. I've been increasingly impressed with the sound, versatility, battery life and ruggedness. Last week a student brought by theirs for an A/B comparison. They were identical. But when he when to leave the his amp slipped out of his hands and crashed onto the concrete. Not so much as a scratch!! And all the electronics still in tact. Didn't even need to adjust the batteries. I was amazed! If my Yamaha THR-10 took that dive the party would be over. I'm just getting back from a retreat where I played on batteries changed last week with two hours of play time. 2 hours Friday night, 3 hours Saturday morning, 2 hours Saturday afternoon, 1 hour Saturday night and 3 hours Sunday morning. 13 hours of play time on 6 AAs. I turn it off in between tunes, but still. I would have changed twice with the Yamaha that uses 8 AAs. The tone controls, layout and result, are much better than the Yamaha. And this review is made playing both an acoustic guitar and a fretless bass through the amp. Astounding! This could be the best battery operated amp at this price point on the market!

Sweetwater Advice

Carson McClain

Technology is our friend and this amp proves it. I am just wondering if there is anything this can not do! The amp models sound great as do the FX, you can plug in an MP3 player to jam with, and you can even use the internal beats to practice your playing speed. A great amp for the apartment, or for the beginner.

Simply put, modern electronic music wouldn't exist without Roland. Many of the electronic musicians here at Sweetwater cut our teeth on TR Rhythm machines and fondly remember programming our first TB-303s. We owe a good part of our careers to this amazing and innovative company. It's been fun to watch and grow right alongside Roland, as they've introduced wave after wave of revolutionary keyboards, digital pianos, and more. For example, Roland's V-Drum Kits continuously redefine the possibilities of electronic drums, beginning with SuperNATURAL technology to the latest Prismatic Sound Modeling. We're huge fans, and we'd love to tell you all about them. Whether you want a pocket-sized synth or a cutting-edge video mixer, if Roland makes it, then Sweetwater is 100% behind it.
