Great book for us beginners!

This book starts at the beginning - literally, with descriptions of the microphone's discovery and early innovations through the work of scientist / engineers such as AG Bell, Thomas Edison and Ambrose Fleming. The book's short technical descriptions of of how the different types of microphones work are both useful and easy to understand. (Even I understand how vacuum tube amplifiers work now that I've read that section!!) The discussion of various types of miking techniques are priceless. There also sidebar discussions of subjects such as compressors, limiters and the do's and don't's of EQ. As a guy who knew nothing (really..... NOTHING!) about microphones, this book was an easy entry into some pretty helpful knowledge.
