Seagull Merlin Mountain Left handed dulcimer
This is the first dulcimer I've owned, but I have been playing guitar for about 4+ years now, and Mandolin for about 2 years. I absolutely LOVE this dulcimer. Stays in tune well, and has a beautiful sound to it. The fact that it's Diatonic makes it easy to play this right out of the box with a quick tuning session. I found it easy to slide my hands up the strings for a sort of gaelic folksy sound, and the size of this instrument makes for easy travel to wherever you want to camp, park, etc. I take it with me often, and enjoy improvised jam sessions just about anywhere without having to lug about a huge gig bag and find space for my guitar. Being left handed, when I discovered they had a left hand version of this I was giddy, as left handed instruments are few and far between. Ask any lefty. I highly recommend this dulcimer to anyone looking to change up their string instrument resume, or anyone looking for a unique and very enjoyable sound.
