You'll Never Lose a Song Idea Again!

You're playing guitar and come up with a killer lick. Then it's gone. Like, forever. Sweetwater has a cable for that - the Memory Cable, from Gibson. Engineered by Tascam, the innovative Memory Cable is a 16' premium audio cable with an in-line MicroSD recorder. It'll record 13 hours of your musical ideas with uncompressed 16-bit, 44.1kHz CD-quality onto the included 4GB card. Use an inexpensive card reader to transfer files to your computer. Ideal for guitar, bass, drum machines, synthesizers, and all line-level signals, the Gibson Memory Cable is a must-have addition to your rig.

Inspiration can be fleeting. Record everything.

Are you a songwriter? The Memory Cable is inexpensive insurance against losing that mega-hit song idea. You don't even need your guitar amp to record. And if you miss a punch-in when recording to your DAW, you've still got that killer lick. Wish you had that earlier (better) take? You got it. The Memory Cable is also great for reamping, which gives you major flexibility. With the cable in record, play through your amp, then transfer the direct guitar signal to your DAW for processing through a different amp or an amp simulator.

memory cable is awesome

great cable and there are many ways to use both pre and post effects

Works like

This cable does exactly what they claim it does - it records whatever signal it detects running through the cable - and does so effortlessly. Extremely useful to capture those perfect riffs or mistakes that sounded great, which you might otherwise have trouble reproducing. Very solid construction. The only reason I haven't given it a 5 is that there is no volume control. However, its propose is to capture the moment without you having to think about it... like an insurance policy - not necessarily at the perfect level as well. However, all the recordings I have tested seem perfectly usable if I ever needed to.

Great Idea!

Very easy to use I did install a Lithium battery for longer life and I can upload to my laptop card reader and create folders for song ideas of different guitar riffs that happen when you practice, normally they would be lost but now I save them to a folder.

micro SD adapter included, nice surprise

Haven't actually tried re-amping yet but the sound files look and sound like direct guitar signals should. Saw one or two incidents of clipping in the waveform. I'll report more when I actually reamp. But mostly I wanted to point out that a micro SD adapter is included (!) even though it's not mentioned in the literature nor is it mentioned on the box. It's taped to the inside of the inner packaging, so you have to look for it. Very nice surprise.
