My new BFF
This thing is like Fred Flintstone's little buddy Kazoo, which pops up over my shoulder and fixes my junk with some kind of freaking space voodoo. After singing those vocals that still just don't pass my own self-critical muster after punishing myself with too many takes, Melodyne Assistant keeps my head out of my hands and my palm off my forehead. Alright, I'm not THAT bad of a singer, but after doing corrections, it will become glaringly obvious that you've just fixed the "clams" you didn't know were there along with the ones that you did. Harmonies and vocal doubles become tight and sweet. Intonation help is as surgical or as broad as needs it to be, and the interface is easy to learn. It's astonishingly transparent and kind to your voice. Even the sizzle of a good mic and the subtleties of a tube pre seem preserved, even on notes that have been wrangled home from a major excursion of nearly a half step. It feels like cheating, it sounds like granulated sugar, and it smells like victory. If you record vocals, whether your own someone else's, your life is about to get easier, so go make a cocktail and wink at yourself in the mirror after you complete your order. Of all my Sweetwater hard and soft gear, this is the thing that turned out to be my personal game-changer.
