The BBE MaxCom is a highly sophisticated dual-channel compressor and limiter with gate, housed in a compact and easy-to-use package. It provides a live or recorded mix with all the clean, clear punch that only a truly professional dynamics controller can. However, the MaxCom is much more than a high-quality, superbly engineered compressor/limiter - it also includes a BBE Sonic Maximizer built in!

BBE MaxCom at a Glance:
  • A compressor/limiter that includes a Sonic Maximizer!
  • High-end VCA eliminates artifacts in compressor/gate
  • Two independent compressor/limiters with full control functions
  • Easy to operate, robust construction, distortion-free operation

A compressor/limiter that includes a Sonic Maximizer!
The MaxCom is the first signal processor of its kind to feature an onboard BBE Sonic Maximizer. The BBE high-definition sound process employed by the Sonic Maximizer is world-renowned among music and sound professionals for remarkable improvements in total sound quality, bringing crystalline clarity and air to your source material as well as revealing rich harmonic subtleties. The MaxCom employs BBE's latest technology, with the very same 4th-generation BBE professional chipset which powers the 482i and 882i Sonic Maximizers. You'll be amazed by the improvement the MaxCom plus the Sonic Maximizer makes in the sound of your tracks!

High-end VCA eliminates noise and artifacts in compressor/gate
The "over-engineering" in the MaxCom ensures that both its compression and gating provide versatility and excellent sonic performance in situations where other compressor/gates often produce undesirable processing artifacts. At the heart of the MaxCom is a THAT Corporation VCA known throughout the industry as the premier dynamics processing VCA, that gives the MaxCom remarkable sound quality for a compressor/limiter in this price range.

Two independent compressor/limiters with full control functions
The MaxCom single-rack-space dynamics processor includes two independent full-featured compressor/limiters, each channel having independent controls for threshold, compression ratio, attack time and release time. Additionally, the MaxCom's "linking" function allows for phase-coherent tracking of stereo signals and adjustment from the Channel One controls. Comprehensive metering on the MaxCom is achieved via dual bargraph meters on each channel that indicate input level and gain reduction.

Easy to operate, robust construction, distortion-free operation
MaxCom's intuitive design makes it easy to operate, and its rigorous engineering and robust construction assure clean, distortion free audio and a predictable, repeatable range of control from undetectable to clearly identifiable. Whether the goal is to pull a "lost" instrument up in the mix, control vocal levels or dial in hard-limited speaker protection, the MaxCom can accomplish the task with ease, reliability and sonic excellence. By offering a superb, full-featured compressor/limiter with an integrated BBE Sonic Maximizer system, the MaxCom has no equal at any price.

BBE MaxCom Features:
  • Full function 4th-generation BBE Sonic Maximizer built in
  • VCA from THAT Corporation ensures distortion-free, artifact-free operation

Massive, clear, and rich.... ALIVE!!!!

Guitarists are tone freaks, and I am such a freak. A few years ago, and after a TON of time and money on "tubes" and "effects," I finally defined "MY" tone, however tubes and pedals all have an inherent noise. I then went digital (Eleven Rack) out to a QSC K12 (thanks Forrest Powell). POW! Great tone, quiet, able to reproduce the same tone no matter the venue, however I perceived that the sound simply wasn't BIG enough (I'm haunted by the "size" of Doug Aldrich's hearty and rich tone.) I added the MaxCom yesterday and have since dialed in "bliss!" I went to group practice today and carried the group. Even the drummer came over to my rack and asked, "Ok, what's new?" (If the drummer can hear a difference, then there IS A DIFFERENCE!) Changing, or correcting, the phase of our hi/lo tones really highlights the harmonic richness of every note (even chords come alive). In addition to Compressor/Limiter/Gate/Maximizer, it is also a BOOSTER. Dialing the individual channel's output past zero squeezes out even more gain. Can't wait to enhance some tracks recording with it...

Love mine

I purchased two of these for use in a professional studio where we shoot live video while recording live bands. They sound fantastic, and do the job just fine. Both of mine are whisper quiet and have taken quite a beating . Now if I had to gripe I would say the knobs feel pretty lousy/sticky/cheap.

no one has seen this!!!

Love it...and the BBE process feature is a cool feature set to have. I use it in my kick and bass guitar with great results. Everyone ask me what is that and when did it come Feels good to have a piece of gear no one has seen or heard yet. I recommend it highly for your rack...

Maximize for free

At the same price as other similar compressors, BBE throws in it's Sonic Maximizer essentially for free! I use this as a compressor in my bass rig with huge sucess. I recommend it for any live sound applications. If you are looking for a studio grade recording compressor, this may not quite do it depending on you needs. For a live rig or PA system it's pretty epic.

Don't believe the hype

I bought this unit on the recommendation of a friend. Turns out it adds crackly static noise to my high end. Not only that, but the first one I got died within a few months. The replacement has loose knobs, as though the board wasn't bolted down properly. At the very least, BBE has quality control issues.
