    A new take on analog!

I own several mono and poly analogs (Moog Voyager and Little Phatty, Oberheim Matrix 6, Roland JX-8P), but was intrigued about this new synth by Arturia. Decided to take a chance and ordered it, so glad I did! This takes you into modular territory without getting into a Eurocrack habit, the matrix section is mind blowing and very easy to grasp. The only minor let down is the onboard effects section, but I have plenty of outboard gear to run this thru when needed. Highly recommended, and thanks to my sales rep. Jason Koons for very timely service1

If your even thinking about buying any synth, euro modules, sequencers, etc. Buy a Matrixbrute!
Great build quality! You can't help but come up with a unique sound. Warning: you can spend hours messing with making sounds and never get anything done. Great USB MIDI interface for any DAWs. Basically it does just about everything you could ask of a mono synth and then some.

This synth does not disappoint. It goes super-deep and is capable of massive sound. Sure it is a mono-synth, but the paraphonic and split modes add even more sonic potential, not to mention the insane modulation routing capabilities. Nothing negative to say about it. I have had it now for a little more than a week and I've barely scratched the surface... I love this synth.

    Best synth I ever owned!

Been playing synths since 1979.For under 2 grand, amazing. For Synthheads..SteineParker and Ladder(Moog anyone?)filters 12 and 24 slope, which can be also played in parallel and series? Yikes, and for newbies 256 presets, which I,m going thru...Thing is built like a tank.My faders are fine, btw...44 lbs of metal and wood...So mine won't be leaving the house too much...One caveat, no case, not even a gig bag!..Cmon Arturia,why?..if you plan on moving this behemoth, get a case from Sweetwater....Mine cost 329..HARDSHELL.. worth the cost.DONT BE CHEAP ON THE CASE..Yes it,s a mono synth, and the problem is?...NONE..If it comes down to me jamming with this or my prophet 12,well prophet, you gonna be lonely...BUY IT NOW!!!

    Very good!

This synth is really great. I pre-ordered it nearly a year ago and I've had it for about a month now. I see a lot of comments regarding build quality and I'd like to dispel those.

This thing is a brick. This is my first Arturia hardware product, and while I've heard not so great things about their previous products, the build quality is actually quite good. None of the knobs are wobbly -- the are extremely solid. The faders are very slightly wobbly sometimes may appear crooked, but it does not affect their feel much at all. They do not feel like they would break very easily, but they do indeed feel lesser than the knobs. But don't let that discourage you! They work very nicely.

The sounds this synth can produce are quite great. Brute Factor is my favorite feature so far. Adding just a hint of it spices up any sound and gives it an amazing character. I use a tiny bit of Brute Factor in almost every sound I make. Too much and it sounds gnarly and distorted, and beyond that, quite unpleasing. But a hint of it makes any sound much better. Another great feature is the effects section. The analog effects can go from subtle and harmonious to alien and out of this world. I love it! I very often run sound from my DAW into the synth to add Brute Factor and the analog effects, and then rerecord it back into my DAW.

The presets included with this are very good, although I rarely find myself using them because I have so much fun creating my own sounds. I have not yet used the MIDI software extensively, but it seems pretty good so far. It makes it very easy to manage your presets. I am very big on saving every sound I ever use in a song so I can later modify it, so being able to keep everything safe on your computer and recalling it whenever necessary is great!

If you are considering moving from the software world into the hardware world, this is a great synth to do it with. It can create sounds you simply cannot on a PC. Between Brute Factor and the rich analog effects, you will not get such a sound from a software environment. I highly recommend this!
