Apple's new Mac Pro will blow away your concept of what a professional computer should be. Apple analyzed every element - graphics, storage, expansion, processing power, memory - and engineered a computer so powerful, so responsive, so sleek, that it'll fly through your most compute-intensive video or audio production tasks in no time (and look good doing it). From its muscular 6-core Xeon E5 processor and dual AMD FirePro GPUs to its next-gen PCIe-based flash storage and wicked-fast Thunderbolt 2 connectivity, every component in the new Apple Mac Pro is juiced for performance.

Blast through compute-intensive tasks

Apple's Mac Pro is the industry-standard workstation computer of media production professionals the world over, and the new Mac Pro ups the ante. Bigtime. You'll marvel at it's stunning, stealth-black cylindrical chassis, but it's what's under the hood that counts when you have a monster project with a suffocating deadline. Designed around workstation graphics with dual GPUs, PCIe-based flash storage, lightning-fast Thunderbolt 2, next-gen Xeon processors, ultrafast memory, and support for 4K video, the new Mac Pro delivers state-of-the-art performance that translates into success for your business.

Workstation graphics deliver stunning performance

In the past, professional computers have relied primarily on their CPU for computing power. As GPU performance has dramatically increased, however, software developers have started to leverage that power in their apps. Apple, with their typical charmed foresight, has engineered a stunningly powerful GPU architecture into the new Mac Pro, incorporating not just one, but two AMD FirePro workstation-class GPUs. With all that power, you'll be able to chew through an edit of full-res 4K video while concurrently rendering effects in the background - and still be able to connect up to three high-res 4K displays!

Compact, elegant, and quiet

Its predecessor weighed over 40 pounds - how did Apple manage to fit all this processing power into a svelte, 11-pound package? The short answer: an ingenious unified thermal core, combined with an innovative cooling system that takes full advantage of the new Mac Pro's cylindrical shape. Instead of using multiple heat sinks and fans to cool the processor and graphics cards, Apple designed everything around a single piece of extruded aluminum that maximizes airflow and thermal capacity. Simple, elegant, and amazingly quiet. The Mac Pro is the ideal computer for your studio.

Expensive but worth the money

The new mac pro is lightning fast and is all its cracked up to be. With this kind of power, I am able to focus on music without worrying about whether I have enough firepower to do the job. The stock mac pro's may be fine for many; however, I would strongly recommend at least 32 GB RAM and 512 of storage. The 256 GB or stock storage is a bit of a joke in my opinion, and apple should really provide twice that. But overall, I'm very happy with my mac, and I plan to spend countless hours happily making music.

Nuclear Computing Power comes to the Desktop

OK. It's not REALLY nuclear, but it is damn fast and reliable. Diminutive in size (the size of a Quaker Oats Oatmeal Box), it makes NO noise and produces almost NO heat. How fast? One of the things we do a lot of is trans-coding video files from one format to another. A fully blown old school Mac Pro would take about 1.25 times real time length to make a trans-coded file. The Oatmeal box? About 30% of real run time. Time savings more than make up of the not inexpensive purchase price. We had the usual fantastic Sweetwater sales service from our longtime Sales Engineer Jeffery Green.
