The MY16-AUD2 improves on its predecessor by including support for daisy-chain networking, 44.1kHz and 88.2kHz sample rates, PIN-locking via Dante Controller software, sample rate pull-up/-down, and five latency values. Each Dante-MY16-AUD2 card provides 16 bidirectional audio channels (eight at 96kHz), and full Dante network audio redundancy over Gigabit Ethernet. The Yamaha MY16-AUD2 is a Dante interface card. Dante (Digital Audio Network Through Ethernet) transmits uncompressed multichannel digital audio over a standard Ethernet with incredibly low latency. Using Dante is incredibly convenient. Instead of dealing with a bunch of cumbersome analog cables, you use a single Cat 5e or Cat 6 cable. Rather than running analog cable throughout a studio or concert venue, you can utilize the structure's existing Ethernet network. The physical location of your devices is irrelevant. As long as your devices are connected to the same Ethernet network, you're good to go. Patching and routing between Dante-enabled devices are handled by Dante Controller software. Dante was originally developed in 2006 and has been adopted by over 150 pro-audio companies.
