This rugged, versatile mixer won't let you down!

The MX-508 combines traditional Ashly quality with internally modular construction in a package offering outstanding value and reliability. This 8-input stereo rackmountable mixer is designed for a multitude of applications, and boasts an extensive mix of features for such a small unit.

The MX-508 features 84dB of gain to ensure full output with low-level or distant microphones. Several years of research went into the microphone preamp and the result is a discrete circuit with better than -129 dBu Equivalent Input Noise (EIN) and very low distortion. Low and High Shelving EQ combined with mid-band peaking EQ tunable from 140Hz and 8kHz make for a very flexible tone control. Phantom power of +48 VDC is provided for condenser microphones via a switch on the front panel. Precision input transformers are easily field-installable, and each input has its own 20dB pad switch. Variable gain trim and Mic/Line selection switches are also found on each input channel. Rounding out the list of standard input features are a Peak Clip indicator, two Aux Sends (factory-set with one pre-EQ and level and the other post-EQ and level, these sends may be modified by a qualified technician), In/Out channel patching, Level and Pan controls, and both balanced XLR Microphone and TRS Line inputs.

Transformer-balanced Left and Right XLR outputs are standard, as are balanced Left and Right TRS 1/4" outs. There is also an independent Mono output with its own front panel level control, as well as a selectable Headphone output with Level Control. There are Pre-Master Sub In/Out patch points for linking other mixers, such as the Ashly MM-106 six-input microphone mixer. Peak Clip indicators are also provided for the Outputs, and the 10-Segment LED Meters may be selected to monitor either Program Left and Right or Aux 1 and 2. Maximum output level is +24dB into 600 ohms.

The MX-508 also has two Master Aux Sends and two panable Master Aux Returns (one stereo and the other mono). There is an additional stereo RCA Tape/CD Input with level control to the Mains or Aux 1. Stereo RCA Tape Outputs are also provided.

Awesome Keyboard Sub Mixer!

I specifically purchased this mixer to be used as a submixer for 4 keyboards all running stereo on a national tour live. All the sound guy had to do was drop me 2 XLR's for L & R and I plugged them right into the back of this mixer. No DI's needed! Simple, yet lot's of control, so I was able to pull some high's out of some of my lead synth parts, but yet leave the piano and other keyboards alone. Solid built and very roadworthy! I'd buy more Ashly gear if I had a use for it. A++

AShley MX508 - A great little rack mixer

We were having problems with our previous mixer picking up the local AM station due to long mike lines. This mixer solved the problem. It has good EQ and is very quiet as well. Costs more than the bargain brands, but you get what you pay for.

easy to setup, built great, souonds awsome!

I just purchased one for a conference room setup, I have always loves Ashly equipment, but was enamored with the control panel of this mixer. After hooking it up, and powering up, the system was dead silent, I had to make sure everything was working as I thought there was a problem, I discovered the system was turned on when i tested the microphones by inducing feedback. turns out the noise floor is well below the ambient noise of the room, even with me standing directly under the speaker i could not hear anything. Very nice mixer, I will be using the Ashly MX508 in all of my conference rooms.

Great sounding, with one minor issue

This mixer SOUNDS phenomenal. I use it to sub-mix my accordion and midi stuff down from 6 channels into my main mixer. SUPER CLEAN sound, and no noise. However, I did find out that if I leave my cell phone on top of my gator case, (which this is racked in, and at the top of my gator rack case), that I get periodic interference that is audible. By simply not putting my cell phone on top of my rack that this is mounted in, it solved the problem, and has worked flawlessly ever since.

These things ROCK!!!!!!

I've had mine for over 10yrs and it's been on MANY world tours and it is just now starting to act a bit funky.... can't blame it after years of road work though. It has EXCEPTIONAL sound and versatility. I would recommend for ANY live application whether sub-mixing or doing live sound on small level. Ashley makes incredible equipment.... a bit higher priced, but WELL WORTH the bit extra. And their service is outstanding. After 6-7yrs on the road and having taken it's share of lumps, I took mine to the Ashley shop while I was in Rochester and they got it back as close to spec as they could free of charge.... I'm sure that's not the usual treatment but after explaining how long I used it... they obliged. I used mine to sub-mix a horn section and send stereo out to the house and it worked AWESOME. I had control of the overall mix and monitor set up and all was groovy. I've also done small gigs mixing house and monitors with it. So there you have it. Maybe Ashley will see my RAVE review and hook me up with a new one.... hint hint.... :)
