How much sand

I like these stands a lot. The best I've ever had. My rather heavy MSP7 studio monitors look right at home on them. I'm very glad I went with the red but also very glad that the red was much darker than it looks in the pictures. I'd say they're more like burgundy than red and the color blends in well with my nearby mahogany wood (it's that dark). This to me is a pro and not a con but others may be on the flip side. For me, I didn't want another all black object and trying to bring some variety to my studio. Very pleased with them aesthetically!Sand:How much sand to get really surprised me. I bought a 50lb bag of play sand but only used about 15 - 20lbs total at the most, and that's filling it to the rim (do try not to get sand in the holes the screws will go into though as it will make it hard to tighten down). Giving weight for the sand isn't the most accurate thing since the weight of your sand could vary, but being that a 50lb bag costs less than $4, it should still be helpful info. Using sand for my stands did make me think of one potential issue and that's the fact that I live in SouthWest Fl and really hope I'm not going to have a monitor stand / ant farm down the road, haha.Pros: Solid materialsNo wobbleWires out of site via internal cable holesLook fantasticCon:Only one con, but in my eyes it's a big one. The monitor platform just sits on top of the stands without being attached in any way. They merely sit on top with four corner points that rest in very shallow holes (Not really even holes and more like indents that are 1/64th of an inch deep). I was blown away by these stands and when I saw that I couldn't believe it and was then blown away in the negative sense. Disaster almost happened when I gently lifted one of the legs to get my wire to the other side. My 27lb monitor wobbled and nearly fell on my back. Luckily my friend was there and steadied it. The rule now is to remove the monitor prior to even cleaning the stands. They seriously need to attach these. This con creates another due to the fact it cuts the amount you can tilt them. I won't go passed 1/2 an inch.Overall, I'm very pleased with them and once they figure out how to attach the platforms to the stands I can't see them having any flaws at all.
