Mackie's Latest Assault On the State of the Monitoring Art

Mackie MR6mk3 Powered Studio Monitors will help you make better-sounding music. In the '90s, Mackie rewrote the book on nearfield studio monitoring, and they've been tweaking ever since to give you even more affordable and accurate monitors. The MR6mk3 is Mackie's latest assault on the state of the art, with innovations like an enhanced waveguide for a wider sweet spot, custom-tuned rear porting for smooth, extended bass response, and customizable frequency controls to let you dial in the perfect response for your space. Need great monitors without breaking the bank? Check out Mackie's MR6mk3.

Mackie MR6mk3 Powered Studio Monitors at a Glance:
  • Enhanced waveguide system delivers incredible openness and clarity
  • Perfectly matched drivers and amplifiers for optimized performance
  • Customizable frequency control for your studio space
Enhanced waveguide system delivers incredible openness and clarity

Mackie's MR6mk3 Powered Studio Monitors sport an enhanced waveguide system that minimizes diffraction and reflections, giving you a wider sweet spot. You also get a seamless transition from low to high frequencies, resulting in rock-solid stereo imaging. And Mackie has voiced the MR6mk3 for job one: music. This may seem like a "duh," until you consider that many monitors have "jack-of-all-trades" voicing that must accommodate dialog and sound effects work in post production facilities, as well as the work typically done in modern music studios.

Perfectly matched drivers and amplifiers for optimized performance

Packing 65 watts of Class AB amplification that's ideally matched to the 6.5" polypropylene woofer and 1" silk-dome tweeter, Mackie MR6mk3 monitors deliver high output with controlled low-frequency performance. They're also optimized for excellent transient response, so they reproduce snare drums and other quick-transient sources with fidelity.

Customizable frequency control for your studio space

Mackie MRmk3 Series monitors give you two levels of bass boost, plus a boost/cut for your highs. With these two controls, you can fine tune your frequency response to your room and speaker placement - handy to have, considering very few of us work in acoustically perfect rooms. And speaking of useful features, you also get flexible input connectivity with balanced XLR and TRS connectors, plus an RCA - letting you integrate your monitors into a variety of studio setups.

Mackie MR6mk3 Powered Studio Monitors Features:
  • Music-centric voicing ideal for modern mixing, monitoring, and multimedia applications
  • Enhanced waveguide system delivers unmatched clarity and openness
  • 65 watts of Class AB amplification

Top Quality for a Mid Range Price

These speakers are pretty incredible. I was tempted to go with the 8" model but I'm glad I didn't because they would be obscenely large for my desk. I also have a feeling that the 6" will pair better with the 10" sub due to less conflicting frequencies later on. I don't think these monitors are entirely flat, but the minimal color doesn't do too much to affect mixing.ANYWAYS, to the important stuff. The highs on the MR6 are crisp but not harsh. If you have speakers with a really muffled high range (as I did previously) then they may take a bit of getting used to. After a bit, however, they become very comfortable on the ears. I think the mid-range is where this speaker really shines, all the way down into the low-mids. I was impressed at the low bass response; the MR6 picks up everything but the lowest of sub-bass, and that's really what a subwoofer should be used for anyways. If you're looking for an intermediate studio setup / recording rig, get two of these bad boys, hook them up to a Scarlett Focusrite with balanced outputs (also highly recommended), and get some balanced XLR or TRS cables. You'll have clean, precise audio with no noise whatsoever. Great for EDM production, which is what I'm working on myself. An additional sidenote - Sweetwater's obscenely fast shipping is always a bonus!

Claritin For Your Ears

Crystal clear highs and midrange with punchy bass. Wide field with good depth. They do not color the sound and your recordings will translate well. Plenty loud but clear even at low volume. Plenty of room to adjust for highs and lows. Probably a good idea to keep away from corners or close to walls (rear ported); mine are 2.5 feet away from wall. Recommend good isolation and damping...good stands and pads will do that nicely. Perfect for a small home studio.
